Ohana Surf Guest House

Good room and spacious balcony, friendly staff and good location.

The cleanliness of the accommodation, the great breakfast and especially the warmth of the staff and owners were outstanding and made my stay truly memorable.

Breakfast was great, having options was an unexpected surprise. Pool is clean and decent size for relaxation. Staff very friendly!

The location is not on the beach but across the busy main road, for the ocean it is a short walk, however for a beach day you can enjoy one the amenities of the (more expensive) hotels that are connected with the beach

It was an excellent few days of lounging and surfing. Rodolfo and Ana, affectionately called Papa and Mama by the locals, took the extra step in taking care of me and my friend, catering to different surf levels and spending time 1x1 with us out in the water. Excellent surf right outside the lodge, comfortable rooms with good AC (you will need it!) and fresh breakfasts. Definitely looking forward to my next visit

My friend and I had a wonderful stay at Ohana. The room was simple and chic and clean, mosquito nets well maintained, nice smelling products in the bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful and welcoming. Book a surf lesson! I had a lot of fun. Beginners at Weligama and more advanced near the guest house. Breakfast was delicious! Location was a short walk along the busy main drag that runs through town. There is a nice blend of Sri Lankan and western food and finally somewhere to get a good cup of coffee!

The main road outside is quite busy in the day but it’s quite quiet in the rooms.

The room decor was fresh and modern and the location is central to the beach and restaurants. What really made it was the team who own and run it. Paula and Rudy and the staff were so welcoming. We did a surf lesson too which was fantastic.

A little bit of traffic noise due to location. You get used to it quickly and not noticable in the room but can hear it outside.

The rooms are very big, the staff is super friendly, the fopd is delicious & the view from the restaurant is awesome. The location is perfect, in the middle of restaurants, yoga, beaches, shops.

Great couple who run this place - felt very welcome and room was great with mosquito net and lovely shower - breakfast was lovely with a great view, will definitely return - near to everything

Very nicely designed, looks new, very comfortable bed, good bathroom and a lovely rooftop area.

This has nothing to do with the property itself. One just has to be aware it is located on the main road where buses and heavy trucks pass by throughout the day. Chilling by the pool wasn’t as relaxing as we hoped.

Staying at Ohana was such a wonderful and heartwarming experience! Paula, Rodulfo and the complete staff are the best hosts you can imagine. They do everything to make you feel right at home and become part of their Ohana, their Family. The property is the best we have seen during our stay in Sri Lanka. This level of hospitality is hard to find in this country; they clean the rooms everyday, the breakfast menu is amazing and tasty (from overnight-oats to avotoast and chiapudding!), the pool is very clean and well maintained. They help you with everything you need to find your way in Ahangama and experience this town on its best! We had surf classes every day, absolutely the best and most complete classes we have had. You learn everything about the physical movements, coordination on the board and different types of wave patterns, this helped us improve our surf skills quickly. Every class ended with feedback photo analysis to personally improve more and more every day. Definitely worth the money and really recommend taking Rodulfo’s classes, even if your not staying at their hotel. The only hard part was leaving Ohana since extending our stay wasn’t possible, everything was fully booked and we understand why! We booked another hotel in the same street but were still welcomed at Ohana, this shows us how heartoriented these owners are. Very thankful for this experience!
