Sable Ranch Bush Lodge

The staff is the best..quiteness of the place away from the buzzing city life.

No towels 1st night..No toilet Airfreshner..

The food was mostly good. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The location was beautiful, and it was nice to hear the lions roaring from time to time. The swimming pool was clean and well maintained.

The rooms, though mostly clean, lacked attention to detail, as an example, lots of spider webs in the corners of the walls. The 1st morning's breakfast came out in drips and drabs, so eggs and toast first, then eventually bacon, and when you just about done, the sausages came out. On the 2nd morning's breakfast, there wasn't even enough food to feed everyone, it was way too little food prepared, resulting in my wife and I possibly having a spoon of scrambled eggs, a spoon of beans and a slice of toast. On "braai" night we were told we were having steak and chicken, our table ended up with wors and a chop, and after the meal we asked what happened to the steak, and suddenly the waiter arrived with 4 steaks ... but we were already done eating. The bar was terribly under-stocked, with certain drinks not available, and other lines running out after just 2 or 3 units consumed. There were very limited "Sun Beds" arounds the pool, definitely not enough for everyone. Coffee mugs and milk had to be requested for the rooms almost daily, and plastic teaspoons supplied. The only "extra" activity that was really pushed was the game drive, and once we were offered a Spa treatment. The "billing" system at the bar is Stone-Age, and I was never requested to sign my bill at the end of each night, and I wasn't given the opportunity to check it and sign it off before it went to the office for invoicing. The staff, though very friendly and helpful, lack LEADERSHIP and direction.

The attention to details was lacking including staff first helping themselves to mealsmbefore the guests. Dinner was set dor 7pm, amd by 8pm dinner was not ready. For breakfast, it was for 8am, and by 9am no breakfast ready. Some guests even went without breakfast as there was not enough food for everyone. During breakfast, there was no tea and coffee available for guests. Attention to detials lacks, such as serviettes that are not available and then placed on the table at the end of dinner. There were no managers on duty, and therefore there is no one to ensure everything is run properly. Towels were not available in the bathroom for guests. I contacted the office, and an still waiting for a manager or owner to contact me. Definitely not worth the amount paid for the evening away.

The food ratings are misleading; in fact, it's horrible. On Christmas day, we were told breakfast would be between 07:00 and 10:00, but we only had breakfast at 10:45. Christmas lunch, if you can call it a Christmas lunch, was not at all a Christmas lunch; it was only served at 15:45. It was meant to be at 13:00 There was no explanation or apology. The only people who kept on saying sorry were Dudu and Lerato. The manager, Pablo, never once apologised or explained to the guests what was going on. By the way, we only found out at checkout that Pablo was the manager; we all thought he was a helper. The worst thing was Christmas dinner at 19:45, when half the guests were served leftover lamb/goat chops, and the other half got a small piece of steak on mash. That's it, nothing else. We had no choice on what to eat; you either ate what was presented or stayed hungry as they ran out of food. I would not recommend Sable Bush Lodge at this stage; they need to work on getting a proper manager, undergo some serious training, and improve their planning, as this is a disaster. Management is supposed to keep a fine eye on all activities via the numerous cameras. Why did they not act when they noticed no one in the dining area between 1 and 3 for Christmas lunch? It would be unfair to just blame Pablo; it is an overall lack of management that will be the downfall of such a great lodge.

Definitely a 9/10! Next time l'd stay for longer because you just can't get enough The staff is friendly(Monicca,Sakhile and Martini) and very very helpful! the property is welcoming. I will definitely come back I'm already planning my next holiday at Sable Ranch Bush Lodge 😁

Relaxing atmosphere

Absolutely value for money.. The food was excellent! The staff was always friendly and helpful. Really a gem of a place for couples.
