The Old Electric Store

Location was good. Nice shower. Room was clean. Very responsive to my need for fridge.

Beds could have been more comfortable. Room was a little cramped for three.

Clean room, good location. Awful neighbors, who were so fraud whole night! I didn’t sleep at all..

The staff doesn’t care about what’s going on in the property..

I got caught up in the charm of The Old Electric Store and its location. But in fact we wished we stayed somewhere out of the town. Clean and comfortable. But very little amenities and more than two nights would have been miserable. The worst part, toilet clogged twice and the man staying the “Staffa” room which I assume works here came in our first night with a group of people woke us up being incredibly loud. Then proceeded to smoke pot in his room which came into the hallway and filled our room. I had to ask him to be quiet. He said he would but then laughed which then they all laughed when he shut the door. We dealt with this till over 1am.

Location is good

You can hear everything from people in and outside

It was at the harbour which was unique.

Not really suited for 3 adults touring with luggage.

The property is in the heart of Portree, right down on the harbour

There was poor attention to detail e.g. a broken and unusable toilet brush that should have been removed/replaced before receiving new guests. No soundproofing and an ill fitting door, meant that we were disturbed by other guests on our second night. There was a ‘false’ fire alarm with instructions that were inaccurate but meant we had to vacate the property in the rain on the Sunday evening and we were then woken at 3am by very loud, weed-smoking residents in one of the other rooms. When we asked them to keep it down, we were ignored. We ended up leaving at 4.30am to get way from the unacceptable smell and noise.

As advertised the Iona Room at the Old Electric Store was very small but still accommodating for our needs. We had everything we needed for a one night stay. We arrived late and had no trouble with the code and the key and awoke early to start our day in Skye. If you plan to spend more than 1 night in Portree you might consider a more sizable room.

Location was amazing

Wasn’t much parking right at site but still did not really make all that much difference. We arrived at a busy time so it was not easy getting to the apartment to drop off luggage so we parked at the community center and rolled luggage there. Community center was not that far away. When we checked out, it was early in the morning so we were able to drive the car to the apartment to load up easily
