"Clean, good position but very poor breakfast. Not good value"

6.0

The position was ideal plus safe as gated.

The breakfast was poor. On our 2nd morning there was too little available for number of people. Not enough coffee, butter, crumpets, etc. nothing apart from the coffee was replenished from the day before. The bran flakes were soft! Very, very poor.

"Definitely an experience , if you need a change of pace in life and some soul searching reflection , this would be ideal"

Well placed for our stay

Found it quite difficult not be able to speak to other guests due to the religious vows of silence .

A very different B&B experience as this is a working religious community. Very peaceful stay

"Lovely peaceful place, with wonderful gardens, and a magnificent church."

7.0

Limited choice (continental style). Self service with no staff to assist. We searched for a kettle, and eventually another guest found one in a cupboard.

"A fantastic hidden spot"

9.0

I don't actually live very far away, but I came across the monastery on Google maps a few days before my dad's funeral. I decided to spend the night before the service here, rather than getting stressed at home and then getting stressed driving to my mum's house (also not far away). It was a very very good decision. The tranquility. The grounds. The fantastic taste of a windfall apple from the orchard. The beautiful church. I will definitely be going again when I feel the need of a mini retreat from the stresses of modern life. Tea and coffee are available in the rooms and the breakfast kitchen is open all day with a fridge, microwave, electric egg boiler and toaster. Along with bread, eggs, milk etc.

These are suggestions rather than complaints. I would have liked a larger bath towel. The one provided was rather small which I didn't discover until I got out of the shower. There was a choice of cereal available in the breakfast kitchen. Perhaps these could be more clearer labeled. I chose muselli only to discover that it was the added sugar version. When I arrived I was shown how to use the boiling water tap, but by the time I came to use it, I couldn't remember and struggled with it. If there were any printed instructions for it I couldn't find them. I only stayed one night so these didn't spoil my enjoyment but I might have found it more so if I'd stayed longer.
