YHA Coniston Holly How

Emily was great. Nice breakfast, room, kitchen, bar, parking and location all really good, so fantastic value.

I used to moan about snorers in dorms but now I realise that ONLY people who snore use dorms in hostels. I used to think they were selfish sadists but now I'm choosing to believe that their affliction has affected their career prospects to the extent that dorm rooms are all they can afford, and trying to be more sympathetic when I have a terrible night's sleep despite earplugs and eye masks. And that it serves me right for being so tight.

Staff misbehaviour! Location! No Security! No facilitation desk for check-in!

Like all YHAs they have those AWFUL metal bunks that wobble if you look at them. Sleepless nights. If you're exhausted you're honestly better off in a tent and using the spotless well equipped kitchen+lounge

Holly How is an a beautiful locaton in Coniston. The hostel had a self-service, fully equipped kitchen which was great. It also had its own restaurant where you could buy an evening meal, or have a cooked or continental breakfast

The YHA network is perfectly suited for hikers and more. I was walking the Cumbria Way and decided to stay at this property. It offered everything I needed: a great location, a comfortable bed, access to clean bathrooms, friendly staff, and a self-catering kitchen. Simple, efficient, and exactly what a tired walker needs at the end of the day!
