unexpected treat - local musicians having a jam session!

it was a bit cold

excellent location, quiet village, great setting next to castle. Useful village shop selling fresh goods across the road for provisioning.

evening meals from pub menu were good. Lovely village inn. Breakfast was as expected - continental- with generous portions of ham, cheese, fruit and enough spare to make up a basic packed lunch, though could have done with a bit more bread or toast. Room was a bit tired and dated, small, and beds were a bit uncomfortable. Bathroom was clean but basic- no separate shower.

The staff were amazingly helpful and friendly, leaving a yummy and vast breakfast because we had to leave early. The pub is old and characterful with a lovely wood burner & there was an open mic night when we visited. The pub had a good local real ale & the breakfast included local produce. I noticed the Inn was environmentally conscious as the soap was sold and not wrapped in plastic. We had a lovely stay!

Fantastic food, and location

Room was a twin, but beds was children’s width, so was nearly impossible to sleep on, lamp had no socket to plug in to. TV was 14 in and could only be seen from one bed. No proper shower, or shower curtain. Tea and coffee was basic it really wasn’t worth the £117 charged. Sorry

Had a better bath/shower and more space than many more modern buildings.
