"Beautiful bolthole within easy driving distance of all attractions."

10.0

Located within easy driving distance of all the main tourist attractions and what a contrast. It was relaxing and inviting and plenty of space to relax and chill out. We really enjoyed the movie room and my daughter loved chilling out in the secret snug. The accommodation has been tastefully decorated and feels very high end. If you are thinking of booking a hotel think again and book this luxury accommodation.

"Beautiful Property!"

9.0

We were attending a wedding at The Boathouse. This is in a great location and was less than 10 minutes away. It has great social spaces to relax and had everything we needed. The projector in the lounge is a great feature.

"Disappointing and not dog friendly!"

4.0

Lovely property in a beautiful village

There are no blinds / curtains in the main bedroom, so at 4am it is full daylight - not conducive with a good night's sleep. I mentioned several times that my daughter would be visiting as she lives a short drive away. At no point did they acknowledge this or advise there was no parking. I didn't expect it at the property, but there is no on-road parking allowed in the village, and this is firmly pointed out in the welcome pack, requesting you don't upset the neighbours by doing so!! If you're precious about your car you will not want to park in the allocated spot as there is clearly several birds nesting in the tree overhanging the space and each day we had to wash the car windows before going out. There was an inordinate amount of bird mess on the car. There was no microwave despite listing one in the property information. The property states it is dog friendly however, it is dog tolerant at best. We paid an additional £70 for our dog for five nights. Our dog is well-behaved and does not get on the furniture, however, here, dogs are not allowed upstairs, which caused a problem as he cried each night as he is used to sleeping on our bedroom floor. The owners' dogs were constantly barking (yapping), and fortunately, this didn't trigger our dog to bark back, however this might be a problem for others. As we were leaving at 9.30am, we received a message asking us to ensure we removed every dog hair... I did point out I would have been happy to hoover gad there been one available, although I assumed the addition cost was to cover the dog and cleaning? Finally, after leaving, we received a message moaning about how long it had taken them to prepare the property for the next guests. We did not leave the property untidy or partially dirty, so I'm a little miffed as to why they felt the need to complain. Sadly this is not somewhere i would recommend, especially when there is so much choice in the area

"a lovely place to stay. we would stay again, and recommend to friends"

8.0

We were contacted before we arrived to make sure we had the code for the key box. The place was spotless. The double bed was really comfortable, and there was plenty of storage space in the bedrooms. Great windows for stargazing, as you would expect! Lots of lovely towels and great shower. The kitchen was well equipped, as was the utility room. A good selection of games, and a wonderful big screen and comfy sofas for film nights. The leaflets for local attractions were all current. Good to have somewhere to sit outside. It's well situated for a wealth of attractions

It wasn't made clear on the booking site that there was only space for 1 car. There was parking close by so it wasn't a big deal. There were also some items listed on the booking site, like microwave and toiletries, that weren't in the property. I quite understand why no toiletries, but don't list them. The outside seating area was a bit stark, a couple of plants or planted pots would soften it and make it nicer to sit in. A map of the area might have been useful, and the local shop details

"Lovely house. Dog tolerant, not dog friendly."

7.0

The property is relatively new and has clearly been built and finished to a very high specification. The kitchen, bedrooms and bathroom in particular were delightful.

The property was advertised as dog friendly. At best, it tolerates dogs. There was an indication that a surcharge for dogs would be applied but no mention of the amount up front - it turned out to be £70 for one dog. Between two signs and the ‘welcome’ pack, there were three different sets of house rules about the dog - including that they were not allowed upstairs. That might not have been an issue, but part of the living space is upstairs and we spent more time there. That meant leaving the dog alone for large amounts of time, which he didn’t appreciate and nor did we. I get the request to keep them off the furniture, but going further felt unnecessary and put a downer on our break away. Ironically, one of the signs boasted that they don’t charge extra for cleaning when dogs stay because they are dog friendly. I’m not sure what the £70 I paid was then… I hope the fact we left the place “spotless” (their words in a message after) shows that dog owners can be responsible and trusted to act responsibly with furry family. The welcome pack and the messages before about the dog lacked any warmth - we didn’t feel especially welcome. More a list of don’ts than a guide to things to do. It’s a shame as the property is lovely and the price great (before the dog charge). I got the sense the hosts are new at this. I wish them well but would recommend either addressing some of the issues or just switching to not be dog friendly.
