"Great cottage, beautiful location"

9.0

This is a lovely little cottage with plenty of character. We loved the flagstone floor in the kitchen and were very cosy on the sofas with the log fire while it was raining outside. It's a beautiful location too, with lots of great walks from the doorstep and 3 nearby pubs to choose from.

"Lovely cottage, perfect location. Brilliant for walkers and dogs very relaxing"

9.0

Wonderful countryside location, lovely village, well equipped, great enclosed garden, parking, peaceful, spotless, easy to find, could not fault it. Brilliant for walkers and dog owners all round and would definitely visit again. 3-4 mile easy walk to Bakewell, endless routes to take, close to river, woods, nice pubs and shop in village, very friendly area.

Just a couple of mishaps occurred which couldn't have been foreseen but door knob came off on arrival and there was no missing screw to be found! Managed to fix it and get in. Shower leaked through ceiling light in living room and tripped lights. Luckily trapped most of the water in a bucket and stayed in the kitchen and one of drawer handles came off bureau in bedroom (it had just worked loose, easy fix). Might be nice just to leave a screwdriver and pliers in an old house just in case ;) Everything else good, modern appliances, modern decor, lovely and warm easy to control heating. Also small thing but please make the key code and emergency number the FIRST thing in the information sent :) we didn't receive acknowledgement of the message sent re leaking shower.

"Very good"

8.0

Overall a good value cottage, some lovely walks on your door step, pubs a few minutes up the hill and parking, It's well equipped and comfortable, but needs a bit of tlc in a few areas, it was very clean and we enjoyed our stay.

The bathroom is very tired with flaking paint and seals looking poor to the degree we discovered the shower leaking into the sitting room below on our last day. The garden area is tired and not maintained which again is a shame as it could be really nice.

"Great stay in a very traditional cottage in great walking country"

8.0

The cottage is stone built, pretty and traditional, situated away from the street in a quiet part of the village near a picturesque stretch of river with great walks from the door. There was a nice welcome pack. The kitchen, bedrooms and shower room are roomy. The fit and decoration is very traditional and great if you like that. There is a dedicated parking space, a peaceful terrace with table and chairs and a useful porch with heating for wet gear. The heating is good and easy to control. Comfortable beds and sharp clean linen. Nice touches such as night light on landing. WiFi strong. There are a wealth of good pubs in the area and many genuinely great walks. The three locals all have distinctive offerings. The village itself is full of current and historic interest and has handy local shops.

There was little not to like. But kitchen equipment more limited than many cottages - limited fridge, no scissors, foil or clingfilm for example. The shower and toilet facilities are not ensuite and we found them awkward given we were not related. The main shower room is associated with the twin bedroom across a landing from the double bedroom for example. The fit and decoration will not suit those hoping for a sharp modern interior, and there is a preponderance of hard surfaces. If you have more than one car there is other parking nearby but it will be under pressure at busy times. Local pub opening times confusing out of season.
