Wonderful place! Amazing staff!! I liked everything!

The service and hospitality were excellent—everything felt welcoming and attentive throughout my stay. I also really enjoyed the buffet breakfast and dinner; they were both immaculate, with a consistently high standard. It was a lovely bonus to be able to use the sister onsen at the larger Tsuruga hotel, which was even nicer. I appreciated the free coffee as well, especially for a relaxed start to the day. Finally, the library was a highlight for me: good books in a calm, pleasant environment.

The only complaint was that, despite the lovely lake view, the Japanese-style futon room felt old and dated and had a mouldy smell.

The hotel lobby and restaurant area are great and well maintained by the staff at The Forest. The breakfast selection was good enabling guests to have a variety of options for breakfast.

Whilst it has been commented in previous reviews, the Japanese style lake view room we stayed in was dated in comparison to the rest of the hotel. Although this is normal for hotels with this style of room, the price for the style of room was higher than others in the area.

We had their dinner and breakfast meals, which were fantastic! The room was comfortable and the location to our activities was excellent. The staff was very helpful and polite. We enjoyed our stay very much!

None. It's an older hotel, but we have view of the lake from the top floor, which was beautiful! The room was quiet and we had no trouble falling asleep or staying asleep either.

The shower was very nice overall but water pressure was slightly low

We love our stay at the Forest Akan. Location is fantastic. We stayed at room facing the lake. Buffet dinner was very good. Breakfast is good as well. We especially love the onsen from its other hotel. The hotel provides a shuttle service every 20 mins interval to the other hotel where its onsen was spectacular.
