MAGIC TERRACE by Design Studio

The terrace was lovely, overlooking the lake. The apartment was very spacious, including both bedrooms and the beds were very comfortable. It was very clean and had all of the amenities as described.

The location offered some transportation challenges, where we had to walk almost a mile to get to Varenna where most of food options were. Getting a taxi with our luggage to Varenna train station took a lot of time and effort to find.

I liked the layout of the house, and the AC was really helpful. It was nice to get Netflix as well :) , that was rare in the places we stayed. The kitchen was well-equipped and we were able to cook for ourselves as much as we wanted. The restaurant next door is incredible. One of the top 3 meals we had in our 10 days on Lake Como. That one meal almost offset some of difficulties we had. Almost.

Compared to the other places we stayed, communication with guests could have been better. The parking arrangement was actually somewhat challenging and getting information required multiple messages back and forth. We had to figure all of that ourselves. Like, now I am a Disco Orario expert. He was kind of gruff when it came to answering questions about how to use the washing machine. ** A simple house book would have solved all of this for both guest and host. ** The terrace was truly the big draw but there were two issues with it. First, it wasn't well maintained or cleaned. The tiles were dirty - we cleaned them ourselves with multiple buckets of water. The hose wouldn't work - it had holes in it. The umbrella was broken and not usable. Second, there is so much loud traffic that you really don't want to sit out there except for early in the morning before all the cars wake up. So you find yourself sitting inside with the windows shut or trying to block out the traffic noise. Those scooters are loud. Finally, there really isn't much nearby that is easy to get to without a car. Certainly you do not want to walk the 1.5 kilometers down the road, as the road is so narrow and trafficked that it doesn't feel safe or fun. And with a car, you have to deal with the 2-hour parking limits at the closest parking lot.

Externally disappointed with the photos online va in person. The bathroom had mold and water would not Flow down while showering. We also got 2 small rolls of toilet paper for a 4 day 3 night stay for 4 people. There were no extra blankets and no extra towels we got 4 towels only. The shower head would not stay causing it to splash in the bathroom which required us to use a towel to dry it up.

A fantastic property with an amazing view over the Italian Lakes . We had an amazing time staying in this property .

Showerhead needs replacement. It won't stay in place which makes washing your hair... difficult

Off the beaten path. Great view. Best restaurant in Varenna next door.
