Woodside, surrounded by woodland and beautiful gardens

Everything was lovely. The place was warm, cosy and welcoming. We were greeted with homemade flapjacks, fresh eggs and milk on arrival, and the fire was ready to light, which made it feel like home straight away. My favourite part was sitting by the huge windows watching the wildlife. We were lucky enough to see a baby deer playing in the garden, which was truly special.

There was nothing we didn’t like about our stay. I work on one of the busiest hospital wards, so this peaceful retreat surrounded by nature was exactly what I needed. Despite feeling wonderfully secluded in the woodland, it was still close to local amenities and places to visit. It had everything we needed and more. I would highly recommend this beautiful retreat to anyone looking to relax, unwind and enjoy a little bubble of peace in nature.

Such a stunning place to stay. The photos were beautiful, but it was even more gorgeous in real life. The grounds and surrounding countryside were absolutely stunning, and the location was perfect. The homemade flapjacks were such a special touch and really set the hosts apart from others. We particularly loved the wood fire, and it was wonderful that complimentary chopped wood was provided. The house was fully equipped with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. We also had so much fun playing dominoes, cards and checkers, although there were plenty more games to choose from. The hosts were incredibly friendly and responsive. We’re already planning on returning as it’s been our favourite UK stay yet. Wish we could’ve stayed longer!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this lodge. Everything was spotless and thoughtfully prepared. The kitchen was fully equipped, the bathroom facilities were excellent, and the fireplace made the place feel warm, cosy and truly homely. The whole atmosphere was peaceful and inviting, surrounded by stunning countryside perfect for long walks and fresh air. Some reviews mentioned the sound of planes in the early morning and the owners have been very considerate by providing earplugs. They turned out to be incredibly useful — not only for the planes but also for the night-time nature sounds (foxes and owls?). For those of us more used to the city, it was actually part of the charm and the earplugs made it easy to sleep soundly. The outdoor BBQ was fantastic and we loved that the owners even thought to provide a mini bar with drinks at very fair prices. If we had known, we wouldn’t have packed so much of our own! Overall, it was a perfect mix of comfort, nature and thoughtful hospitality. We will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend. P.S. photo of forest walk

Very Original and Unique, Home made Flapjacks were so good. Liked The cd player and CD's. Could also be one of the only booking.com properties with sharp knives.

Having a cooker etc to be able to cook a meal, ie breakfast/dinner was really a great bonus Log burner for the winter I am sure will make it cozy. Bathroom, was lovely. The setting was beautiful despite having the planes fly over. Lovely touch leaving fresh eggs and a choice of drinks for you to purchase with a honesty box.

It would have been nice to have had curtains in the bedroom to shut out the light whilst sleeping and to give you more privacy. To have had a more comfortable bed with the option of a comfy duvet.
