SGOff the beaten track (literally) but walkable to Castle Combe. Well appointed, beautifully furnished charming farmstay. Complete with resident peacocks, fresh eggs, lovely fire and farmhouse kitchen.
Property is off a narrow lane but driveable… Couldn’t control the heating, stone floors = cold kitchen
AUCereal and milk provided also tea coffee and espresso machine. Very quaint and old worldly.Excellent bed and large bedroom.
GBWe feel lucky to have discovered The Old Library. Every detail here has been so thoughtfully considered — from the cozy reading nooks to the wonderfully curated bookshelves that invite you to pause and linger. This space truly lives up to its name — it’s a haven for book lovers and those in search of peace. Like many before us, we met the famous peacock… on the very last day! GBEverything is amazing, all you need for a trip away and then some. Rowena and Pat have created the perfect retreat, you can work up and have a lovely walk into Castle Combe but also a fabulous base for local towns and NT places. The property is very private will lots of added extras comfy bed and like home from home, but better. I have recommended to everyone I know for a visit and we will definitely return again.

Hot water for washing was not very good, the water heater didn't seem to be able to cope. Shower tricky to maintain a stable temp.

GBWhat a lovely place to stay - the photos do not really do it justice! Nice warm welcome from Pat. Everything seemed spotlessly clean and fresh. Well equipped kitchen with good coffee/tea, breakfast and milk provisions. Living room and bedroom both larger than anticipated and very comfortable. Great Library! In a great setting and a short distance from the village.

CAWe really appreciated the milk and the cereals and the eggs and tea and hot chocolate and coffee that were provided. The place was quaint cute quiet private and exceptionally clean and had everything we needed. I will stay again one day but longer. My son and I are both authors and it was a perfect spot to write and a perfect setting! We enjoyed a campfire two nights in a row.
The only thing we found a little inconvenient was how far out of the village it was, so it was a little bit of a grunt getting all our luggage to the location and a bit of a long walk for hauling luggage - had we rented a car though this wouldn’t have been an issue and Rowena said had she known she would have given us a ride. Rowena was exceptionally kind to take us into Chippenham to the train when we left. Her and her husband were extremely friendly and accommodating so I don’t want this to reflect badly - because it was my own fault - I should have studied the map first before booking it. Like I said though I’d book it again in a heart beat.
