Staying on a houseboat on Dal Lake was a very special experience. There is something very calming and peaceful about being surrounded by water. The nearby view of the snow-capped mountains was absolutely breathtaking. Picturesque and beautiful. Very welcoming hosts. Comfortable room. Good food. Bottled water readily available because the owners regularly host foreign visitors. They speak English well (particularly Faizan who speaks English fluently). This is helpful for many foreign visitors to communicate for anything they might need as well as to gain insight into Kashmiri life.

At night it was quite cold, being on the lake (it began snowing the next morning). However the hosts did everything they could to ensure I was comfortable with a heater and very warm electric blanket.

Very good farooq uncle and faizan bhai make u feel like home so humble and respectful they pick u up and drop every day
