To be honest, not a lot

We read the other comments about it being an old and worn down hotel but thought that it can’t be too bad for the price, but we’re sorry to say that it is not worth it for the price, not at all! - it isn’t located where it is shown on booking! It’s about a 15 min walk down south the lagoon (so 30min walk to the city centre). Look it up on google maps - staff was absolutely unmotivated and every question about a blanket or toilet paper (both was missing in the room!) was answered with hesitation - the room was so worn down: saggy bed , balcony door not closing/opening or only with strong force, no safety box - overall it was cleanish but linen and towels were stained - there is a pier to the lagoon but you don’t have a full view of the lagoon because it’s blocked by a little island

The location is nice, the access to the lagoon is great.

the property needs maintenance, no A/C, the bathroom sometimes smell like sewer.

The room was uncomfortable. It was super hot, no aircon. The sheets were dirty. The door was difficult to close. The shower was cold. I left my AirPods in the room, but stayed in Bacalar for 3 more days. The staff were contacted, but they never returned them. I understand it’s my fault for leaving them, but it’s disappointing that they are not trustworthy. They also owned me change for the room, but they never gave it back to me. Lazy and thoughtless staff!

The private access to the lagoon was the reason we booked this hotel and even this they can’t looked after properly.

When we checked in, they didn’t have our reservation because they don’t check booking.com. The room was ok but the bathroom was old, paint was missing, we had no water, had to asked for it to be turned on. They charged us for air con. The staff was extremely unhelpful when we mentioned our concerned. The hotel has a lot of potential but it’s outdated and not being looked after all. Definitely can find better accommodation in Bacalar.

There was no lock on the balcony door and no door handle on the bathroom door. They weren’t serving breakfast or even a cup of coffee. There was a power cut on the first night which meant the fan stopped working and it was incredibly hot. Sheets could do with replacing along with the towels

I loved the location, it was in the right place and it was wonderful. I liked the coziness of the rooms. The pier was beautiful and well maintained. I could access the Bacalar Lagoon at anytime and take amazing photos.

I did not like that not all the rooms had A/C, this was resolved quite easily and at the spot, but it was not made clear before hand. The power outlets were a little hard to find in my room.

Very dirty bathroom. The sewage reeks and we weren’t able to sleep because of that. We requested to move us to another room but not one helped us. Even the customer service from Booking.com didn’t do anything. We ended up just leaving and stayed at another hotel for the rest of the nights. No refund was processed which was very disappointing.

The hotel has so much potential. It's a beautiful little spot on the lagoon surrounded by jungle. The lagoon us gorgeous! The staff is wonderful. So friendly. So helpful. Anything we needed they helped and made happen. The issue is there were bugs here and there in the room. They only give you a sheet to cover with. Water pressure is terrible! Takes 5-10 minutes running it to get warm. Also it's pitch black dark everywhere. We had to turn lights on behind the staff when we came back in the evenings. Literally not a single light on anywhere. Bonus and good perks were air conditioning was fantastic. They gave us extra pillows and blankets for comfort. The room is honestly all we needed because we were never there. Howerver... The main complaint is our friend who was a solo traveler staying at the hotel with us came screaming and banging on our door at 4:30 am because she woke up to a man standing over her and touching her while she slept. He broke in and God knows what he was planning? She screamed and he ran off. But this was very scary for all of us. All that yo be said due to the issue of the man breaking in. We wouldn't stay here again. We 100% would have had that not happened. The staff was absolutely wonderful though. I'd really love to see this place do well. Has such great potential.
