I loved the board walk docs out into the lake . It's was nice and quiet, gave a tree house feel the way the rooms were set up. The room was large but needed fridge.Finally discovered the Michelada stand at the top of the hill our last day. They do have breakfast in the morning.

It was a little far from the town square.30 min walk 10 min bike ride. You should get a bike if you plan on staying here. We often had water issues with no housekeeping. This place has the potential to be really enjoyable with a few tweaks.

Liked as one of the previous owners of the LAND that this rustice minimalistic hotelito is build on, it was nice to return to the area and see what has been created. The setting on the Laguna Bacalar and the long pier into the laguna are nice as are the gardens and the out door areas and the basic concept of the hotel.

I was given a ground floor room. The sliding terrace door DID NOT LOCK. NOTHING to keep the room safe. Outside was dark and was close enough that anyone could walk in from the pier /garden and take your stuff. When I mentioned this to the woman who was on reception her response was that they have lots of security cameras. I said in the room too? No was her answer. Then when I asked about changing rooms to a more secure room on the second level I was told I would have to pay an extra fee. I was traveling for work so had my lap top and phones with me. Their lack of security required that I take my work supplies with me while I went to dinner. While the evening receptionist was pleasant, she was not really informed of where is the close places to eat ( they do not have onsite place for evening meal) I literally slept with my important possessions by my side and actually honestly did not sleep due to the noise of the ceiling fan and the hardness of the bed . It is a concrete bed base which is often found in Mexican hotels with a mattress. There was a sheet. No mattress protector or mattress pad. Very basic bedding, clean though. The curtain in the room was extremely light weight almost sheer so there was no real privacy offered .No charge port near the bed so phone had to be charged in bathroom port. This place with a few investments could be a deluxe hotel of grand quality but at the moment it is not one.

Almost everything!!! The room was filthy dirty !!! Our bed looked slept in !!! Other guest shampoo Sachet was open by the shower so clearly no cleaned at all . We arrived to no towels and one pillow . Check it was till 11 and we arrived at 11.10 and nobody was there and no one replied to any of my messages that I had sent hours before and just before arriving. Worst experience I have ever had in a hotel in my entire life !!!! Hated it and it’s totally ruined our time on Bacalar !!! Had to book another room in another hotel just to get over the horrible experience!!! And on top of all of that when we left they didn’t help with the bags and then mentioned a tip haha . Obviously that wasn’t going to happen . So we just got in a taxi and left !!!

This place has kayaks to hire and we loved the water access to the lagoon, The lagoon is what makes this place so special. apart from that it is pretty run down and the showers and toilets need maintenance.

The property was actually more expensive then it should have been, it’s very far from town, ok if you have a car and it has absolutely no security, the doors do not secure and when we asked about a locked door, they said that they didn’t have a room that had a secure lock, the staff don’t speak any English also which made it difficult for transactions. They did however ensure us that the front desk is manned all night and that they have security cameras which really wouldn’t help if there was trouble, it’s most likely from other guests. which there was none, maybe one other couple that we saw.
