I honestly don’t even know where to begin because my experience at Sands Inn Hotel was one of the worst travel experiences of my life. From the moment we arrived, things started going wrong, and instead of improving, they only became worse. The service was absolutely terrible, and the chef’s attitude was shocking. She was rude, dismissive, and made us feel as if we were a burden instead of paying guests. Hospitality was completely absent. One of the most painful parts of our stay was the food situation. We placed an order and waited… and waited… and waited. Three long hours passed before our food finally arrived. By that time, we were already emotionally exhausted, hungry, frustrated, and completely disappointed. No apology. No explanation. No concern. The conditions became so unbearable that we were left with no choice but to leave the hotel early and book another place just to be able to complete the remaining two nights of our stay. That decision alone speaks volumes. No traveler should ever be forced to abandon a paid booking just to find peace and basic comfort. As if that was not enough, the hotel had no electricity, while the surrounding areas in Zanzibar clearly still had power. Sitting in darkness, with no air conditioning, no proper lighting, no communication from management — it felt unsafe, neglected, and deeply disrespectful to guests. It showed a complete lack of responsibility and concern for human comfort. What hurts the most is the regret. I regret choosing this hotel. I regret trusting the reviews. I regret every moment spent there. A holiday that was meant to be peaceful and memorable turned into stress, disappointment, and emotional exhaustion. I would never recommend Sands Inn Hotel to anyone — not to friends, not to family, not even to strangers. This place does not understand hospitality, respect, or customer care.
