Difficult road to get to the property

The lodge is beautiful with only 2-3 rooms. We got the biggest one with the best view and it did not disappoint. The glorious Ella rock view is worth it. The room was quite large with a sizable bathroom and 2 balconies. We loved the extra items in the room, for example there were games, a drying towel rack, two sets of outdoor furniture in the balcony, the hosts even kept a repellent spray for convenience! Delicious breakfast is served by the lovely staff in the balcony and it is probably the best thing about the stay. Highly recommend spending 1-2 nights in the lodge. The hosts are a super nice couple and they're very welcoming and helpful. (They paid for our food order when we didn't have enough change, which is quite lovely of them)

While the positives largely outweigh the negatives - we found the bed to be a bit small and not as comfortable. Also there was a standing fan in the room which we had trouble positioning so there could be enough ventilation but not direct airflow on us. Also, the lodge has two beautiful pet dogs. One is super friendly, one is less happy with guests lately so there was some barking whenever we entered the lodge. Nothing to worry about though but just a heads up for anyone who isn't comfortable with dogs!

Amazing place, nice room, clean and cute, the view from the terrace is amazing, breakfast is yummy, and big up to the team, all 3 of them are just fantastic people! Thank you!

I had a great home stay experience at Star Gaze Lodge. The room was spacious, had a private bathroom, and offered an amazing view. One of the highlights was enjoying a freshly cooked, delicious breakfast on the balcony each morning. The location is great, just about a 10-minute walk to the Main Street and plenty of restaurants nearby, and a short walk to the starting point of the Little Adam’s Peak trail. The hosts were fantastic, very warm, responsive, and helpful. They kindly assisted with laundry services and even shared great local recommendations. A special thank you to Teesha, who joined me on a tour to a tea plantation – it was such a memorable day. They also have two adorable dogs, although I didn’t get to spend much time with them. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Nice room, stylishly decorated with a large bathroom and smart TV. Good facilities including bedside lights, games etc. Decent breakfast. Easily walkable to the main street in Ella as well as good hikes. Very friendly owners, who kindly removed our breakfast charge from the room for our last day as we were leaving very early, and arranged a tuktuk for us to the station.

We were really misled by the booking, which we raised during our stay. We were aware we didn’t have the more expensive room with the most spectacular view, but the booking DOES list having a private terrace and the pictures are deliberately misleading, as others who’ve stayed in this room have also noted. Firstly be aware that your room is the only one literally next to the only entrance to the property visible all the way up the stairs, meaning you will need to have your curtains closed for any semblance of privacy, particularly as staff were going directly in front of our room constantly. More importantly though, we did NOT have a private terrace accessible to us. The terrace we did have was absolutely filthy, with no seating as advertised, laundry drying (presumably the owners’) and a really, really ill cat living up there. We are cat lovers but this cat was in an appalling state and we should have been made aware that we would not have access to a terrace as a result, and a discount offered accordingly. Instead, we were told we could use another terrace outside someone else’s room, which had a view but involved walking through our filthy one and climbing over a high fence to the other side of the building. It also wasn’t cleaned and the furniture was covered in water and leaves! We had been really looking forward to this stay as it was for our anniversary and left feeling really disappointed and deceived.

Lovely place and amazing people!!

One of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at! The views were absolutely incredible. It is in a nice quiet location about a 5 minute walk from the Main Street. We spent our mornings relaxing on our balcony overlooking the mountains and spotting the different birds in the area ! The breakfast was also outstanding. There are games in the room which are useful for rainy days. The host and hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helped us plan activities & arranged any rides that we needed. We only wish we could’ve stayed longer !
