Tranquil Retreat at River Valley Country Park

Claire was absolutely amazing. It was our honeymoon and we were having a disastrous time camping so booked this last minute to try and save our honeymoon. From the first message Claire was kind and understanding and couldn't do enough to help. The lodge was clean, tidy and had great facilities. The park itself is extremely quiet and peaceful with a designated dog walking field that's huge. We will definitely return!

Nothing we didn't like

Location was perfect, the site was clean, quiet and not over crowded. The caravan was spacious, comfortable and modern. the host was really helpful, communication was great.

The only thing I could suggest would be attention to detail with the cleaning, although clean, bedding had stains on, and I appreciate the property was dog friendly, we didn’t take ours this trip, but I was well aware that dogs had been there, the odd hair and smell of dogs were apparent. The bin lid also hadnt been cleaned for some time.

Beautiful situation, quiet and peaceful. Had everything we needed as a couple of seventy-something dog owners! Dog walking facility perfect.

One or two kitchen items had seen better days or were missing (corkscrew) and could do with replacing but this is a very minor niggle.

Easy to collect the keys from the locked box. Big spacious caravan with a lovely fire place, very quiet area. I was grateful for the coffee pods, left over sugar, washing up liquid etc. Didn't use the towels because they looked a little dated but I'm a little fussy so perhaps others wouldn't have minded. Loved the veranda. Overall great stay and good communication from the owners.

I didn't realise at the time of the booking that the caravan was dog friendly and I have a very sensitive sense of smell thus the smell bothered me a lot and I struggled to eat inside but that's just because of how sensitive I am to smells. I love animals and am a vegetarian but just struggle with strong smells. My husband and daughter were fine. Obviously there were dog hairs etc around but in general clean.

Great quiet location perfect for couples, caravan was very nice and roomy and suited us exactly for what we needed for a getaway.

Only small issue was the cutlery and kitchen items were a bit grubby so had to rewash everything before we used them.

Some areas of cleaning could be improved (found dirty sock in wardrobe and other plastics etc) bits on floor, dirty water left in sink, dirty placemats A welcome note on site would be a nice touch, pint of milk for arrival Bed is super bouncy and Nil support. Pillows are awful Duvet - single duvet in a king-size cover. Just no Welcome book could be improved, looks cheap and not overly helpful, lots of leaflet around holiday home and in cupboards.

The caravan was immaculately clean, had everything you could need, even the lovely addition of games to play in the cupboard! The location was so peaceful and quiet and an easy drive to everywhere you could need to get to. We come to cornwall numerous times a year and this is hands down the best place we’ve stayed. Will definitely be back!
