The Brooks Hotel Restaurant and Lounge

The sheets were NOT clean/changed!!! At 9:30 I turned down the sheets to get into bed as I was tired from a long day's drive. The sheets had obviously not been changed as there was dirt, stains, and hair (of both kinds!). I immediately went to the front desk to get the situation taken care of, only to find ou7t that the front desk is managed only up until 7 pm - during high summer tourist season! Really???!!! I then went to the bar only to find that it too, was closed. Fortuitously, I bumped into the bartender and upon explaining the situation, she immediately went and obtained cleaned sheets. While WE were changing the sheets, it was discovered that the mattress pad was ALSO FILTHY/STAINED! The bartender then went back to obtain a clean mattress pad. HOWEVER, upon removing the mattress pad, it was discovered - you guess it! - the mattress cover itself was grossly stained - about the size of a dinner plate and of a yellow color. Because it was getting late, and with at least a clean mattress pad and sheets separating myself from the mattress itself, I reluctantly crawled into bed. First thing in the morning I went to the front desk and told the clerk what had happened and that the situation could be verified by the bartender. I told her I wanted my money back and that I was going to info the state health department of the disgusting conditions. She stated she had to talk to her manager. After loading my suitcase into my truck, the desk clerk informed me that, because I had "occupied the room", my refund would be only HALF. Further, upon checking with the State of Idaho, I find out that there is NO REGULATIOINS OR INSPECTIONS FOR CLEANLINESS OF A HOTEL ROOM!!! Apparently the State of Idaho is only concerned with food safety and doesn't have anything to support a complaint of unhealthy conditions. Management seemed "shocked" about the situation; however, it is clearly apparent there is NO COMMUNICATION BETWEEN MANAGEMENT AND HOUSEKEEPING NOR REGULAR ROOM INSPECTIONS: Housekeeping should not only be doing the work correctly, but should be reporting to management any issues. If someone actually changes the sheets and sees also a filthy mattress pad, why weren't these changed? Further, upon removing a mattress pad and seeing a grossly stained mattress cover and not reporting this to management to obtain a new mattress? Laziness, sloppiness, don't-care-attitude of both housekeeping and management is appalling. DO NOT STAY HERE AS THERE IS NO GUARANTEE OF CLEANLINESS WHERE A PERSON COULD BE EXPOSED TO WHO KNOWS WHAT!!! I only wish I could have taken photos, but I was in shock and beyond tired; I would certainly do so if I came across the same situation. And, it was too late to try and fine another room elsewhere....

Was a wonderful place to stay, great location, close to lots of restaurant's and bars! Love the renovations made to the historic building! Nice to have off street parking available with your room!

This is a super quaint hotel in the midst of a beautiful little mountain town located right downtown. It was very clean and the staff was super friendly, up-to-date decor and the restaurant and lounge were also very welcoming! We had a wonderful time, hiking and biking in the area. I would highly recommend!
