Lovely flat near University of Reading

The location was perfect.

The location was less than an hour from Chessington, windsor, and Thorpe Park.

There wasn't much to like about this apartment. It certainly was not 'lovely' The accomodation was generally dirty, noisey, and in need of a refurbishment. You could describe it as basic student accommodation at best. A disgrace to market it as it is and to charge so much. To mention a few things: - Hallway light does not work - No full-length mirror anywhere. In fact, there is one bathroom mirror for the whole apartment. - Plugs taped up around the apartment. I'm not sure if this even meets electrical safety standards. - Broken dirty and dusty blinds and clips in multiple rooms. - Dirty Kitchen - crumbs in fridge, oven, and over floor. Hairs hanging from extractor fan, which didn't fully work. - Cutlery is not adequate. There were only 2 metal forks and a few plastic ones, not a full set of cultery to be seen. You had to wash up every time you eat or use a barely half full dishwasher. I had to put the plates, dishes, and cups through the dishwasher before use as there was food stuck to them. -The door feels insecure, with no bolt or deadlock, and only locked by a code and a flimsy interior door chain. - Generally dirty and marks all up walls. - Noise can be heard from the main road all night. - You can hear neighbours talking and televisions through bedroom walls. - Beds are uncomfortable. Mattress in one room has no firmness - literally sunk right into it, and the other you could feel the springs and was rock hard. I had sore hips, constantly having to turn over in the night. - Small corner shower with awful temperature control. I am 5'5 "and a size 10, I struggled to fit in it with enough room to have a shower. Both my husband and daughter we burnt by sudden changes in water temperature. - No robes, despite listed as included - No safety deposit box, despite listed as included - 'Free toiletries' consisted of a communal bottle of head and shoulders and Lynx shower gel. I'm assuming left behind by previous guests.

Very handy for its proximity to the University. Spacious and fully equipped. Keyless access. Would certainly use again.

Interior somewhat careworn. Not very soundproof.

I booked this property for one of my ex student and her spouse. They reported the rooms to be spacious enough.

The guest reported that the washing machine was not working, the kitchen hood switch was not working. The heating of the toilet was on and made it too warm to use but no switch was there to turn it off. Once reported by the guest, the host sent a technician who woked for almost 4 hours to fix things. So the guest got stuck in the house and could not go out. The host said nobody reported before, so he didn't know anything. Even the basic breakfast is not provided. The guest requested for some bread, milks and cereals early morning, that host sent around 10 am. The guest stayed for 3 nights but nobody showed up for cleaning the bed rooms or even the common places, that made the stay terrible. No basic items as small bottle of oils or sizzling or salts were provided. Apart from the rooms, everything was very basic with almost no facilities or maintenance.

Good space and location. Loads of towels, linens etc. everything well appointed All the information from host was excellent

Temperature control in the shower ..could be improved a little - it was hot or cold nothing in between. Just a very small adjustment would make it perfect.
