Wanaka's Private Escape

The drive up from the road through an avenue of arched oak trees was very beautiful. The proprietor, John, showed us to the apartment as it was at the back of a large estate and explained everything. The apartment was large, and very private in a lovely garden setting. It was very comfortable, clean and quiet. We appreciated the undercover parking as it was very wet when we were leaving. We really enjoyed our stay.

Finding the address was a bit tricky despite the instructions we received from the proprietor. We put the house number, 30, into Google maps, but google was not very accurate. The proprietor had warned us about this, but the house number is on the letterbox, which was set back from the road and we missed it twice. We learnt to look for the “aged persons” road sign (there is a retirement village almost next door), which was right next to the driveway, and we were fine from then on. Apart from this fairly minor point, everything else was great.

Our stay at Wanakas Private Escape was fantastic! The property is beautifully maintained, offering a peaceful and secluded setting with stunning views. The accommodation was cosy and warm, creating a welcoming atmosphere, and it was also clean, stylish, and well-equipped, providing everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. John, the host, was attentive and ensured everything was perfect, adding thoughtful touches to make the experience even better. It was the ideal spot to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a quiet and scenic getaway.

Beautiful spot and very comfortable

We had an exceptional stay that exceeded our expectations! John, the host, was incredibly friendly, warm, and accommodating. Initially, we were concerned about the lack of air conditioning, but John reassured us that we wouldn't feel cold. True to his word, he provided three heaters in the room, making it cozy and comfortable. The room was immaculately clean, and its proximity to Wanaka town centre and the Cardrona and Treble Cone was a huge bonus. John took the time to show us around the lovely place, making us feel right at home. We highly recommend this accommodation and appreciate John's outstanding hospitality!

Very comfortable property with everything you need for your stay. Wonderful hearing the birds!

Absolutely everything. Although the property is on the Hosts land, we had 100% privacy and really felt like the home was our home away from home. Will definitely be staying again if it is available! The covered carport was so great, protected our cars windscreen from the cold morning frost so we could hop in and go!

Warm, quiet, comfortable with great books!

The unit is set in mature gardens with tui and bell bird song all day long. The sofa is the most comfortable one we have experienced! We loved spending a few days here relaxing and skiing. There is plenty of space and completely private. I would love to spend a few months here!
