Sir Andrew Murray House

The house was very clean and tidy. Warm welcome by the host as we arrived. Everything we needed in a private room.

It is in middle of a wood, quite . Plenty of walks around there.

Car park, bathroom sharing, no where safe for child to play. Family room full items, boxes , bikes etc.

Some of the other guests didn’t know the bathroom was shared and unfortunately assumed we walked in on their space. Other than that the room was clean comfortable and Ken was a great host!

The house is rambling with no obvious main entrance. On arrival the first door visible is at the top of a ramp to a sunroom - when I rang the bell, making the dogs bark, I was shouted at to 'go to the front door' but no-one came to the next door along. I wandered around for 10-15mins ringing 3 different bells with no response; was unable to phone as no signal and was about to go away but had a final attempt at the top of ramp and knocked on window until someone came to let me in....who then told me I should have rung the bell as they had been looking out for me! The hosts should have a clear notice saying where the entrance is, and a doorbell that they can hear. When booking, the only available room was a Disability Access room describes as 'with walk in shower, private kitchen, garden view, patio area, wardrobe' - the room I was given was not wheelchair suitable with none of these specifications: the shower was over a bath, the kitchen (adequate) was shared, the window looked onto a wooden fence, there was no outside access, there was a hanging area but no drawer/shelf unit for other clothing. The rooms had a very strong smell of air-freshener which made me wheeze (I am not asthmatic).

Owners were very welcoming and friendly. Spacious room, comfortable bed. Ample self catering facilities. Quiet location just a short walk from main road.

Small point. We could have done with a suitable mirror near a power socket in the bedroom/ living area , but the bathroom mirror was removable, so we used that in the bedroom instead.

Really comfy and clean room, very helpful owner with two very cute dogs, nice selection of breakfast cereals and a coffee machine for the morning.

The closest pub serving food was a couple of miles down the road, not a huge issue, but something to bear in mind if you are walking/cycling. There is a kitchen available to cook your own food however, and a Chinese takeaway that delivers to the property.

Clean, comfortable, super location.

The location was perfect for walking , cycling and paddle boarding. Break was self catered. Close to the village.

Parking could have been easier.
