The Residences at Karen

- Comfortable bed - Large shower - Easy to contact the reception & restaurant -Fridge

- I paid for 2 orders of spring rolls from the restaurant but only received one. -There were lots of crickets and a few wasps inside the room.

The service was quite bad. No one would lead me to the gym even though I asked several people. I ordered dinner and they asked 5 times what I wanted. When it came out, one thing was missing. Not a huge deal but when I went to check out, I said, oh btw, I never received that and instead of apologizing, they called to confirm I wasn’t lying! Go somewhere else!

Most of the staff were nice. However, the breakfast was disappointing and the service at the breakfast restaurant was almost non-existent. The facilities were a bit old and outdated. The front desk ladies and three of the security staff I met in the evenings were extremely friendly. However, when I was leaving the hotel gate inside a car, I was shocked that a security lady working at the gate asked me to tip her bluntly. I've traveled to many countries and stayed in many nice hotels, and always tipped the hotel staff who help me (I did tip the staff who cleaned my room and carried my bags for me at this hotel) and yet had never been asked to tip a security guard who was standing there when I was heading out the hotel gate. Even though this hotel was located nicely inside a golf course and had lot of trees, but it was definitely overrated. I'd prefer to spend more to stay in a nicer hotel in the same neighborhood for better breakfast and services next time though.

Poor customer service at the breakfast restaurant - the food were not tasty at all with very limited selections. The restaurant staff were a lot more attentive to golf club guests than the hotel guests. A security lady standing at the gate bluntly asked me to tip her when I was leaving the gate after I checked out at the front desk. She made my experience staying at The Residences at Karen a very uncomfortable one.

Beautifully designed. Spacious rooms. Top floor room had a pretty balcony perfect for cups of tea whilst listening to the birds and enjoying some morning or late afternoon sun. A lovely property in Karen - not far from Sheldrick Trust/Giraffe Center. Delicious breakfasts. Staff were really lovely and the gardens/grounds are stunning. You can walk up to the clubhouse for dinner/drinks and enjoy watching some golfers in action!
