"Econolodge Near Quantico in Dumfries"

10.0

If you are trying to find a good place to stay outside of the Marine base Quantico take it from me a USAF Veteran and Diamond level Choice Privileges member that the Econolodge in Dumfries is a great place to stay. Year to date I have stayed here over 90 days and have not encountered any problems so far. First and formost to mention is the properties close proximity to the major interstate of Route 95 making it easy and convienent if you are traveling up and down the East coast for work or vacation to hop on or off the interstate leaving you minutes from multiple destinations including all the monuments and tourist attractions of Washington DC. In walking distance from the front door of the Lodge you have multiple different dine in options such as Cracker Barrel, Ihop, Chick-Fil-A, Waffel House, and our local favorite Montclair Family resturant so you dont have to get up and drive just to get a meal. If you're interested the Potomac Mills mall is just 5 minutes drive away giving you the ease of access to many outlet and designer stores making this the perfect location. The new hotel management has gone over and above in their efforts to create a quiet and comfortable environment for their valued guests. When I first came back to check in the Owners recognized my face and remembered my name. They where happy to welcome me back and tell me all about the recent remodel the hotel underwent to update the floors, furniature, and fresh coat of paint which made a remarkable difference in the apperance of the rooms. Upon entering my suite I could imediatly smell the fresh lemon scent from when the room was recently cleaned and prepared for my arrival, showing that the staff and management truly care about apperences and are actively taking extra steps to improve every guests stay! So if you are actove duty on TDY, a Military Veteran on leisure, or someone like me looking to stay long term in my experiance Econolodge and Choice hotels rewards program is the way to go. So far just through regular check-ins and extended stays I have already accrued nearly 15 free nights and over 100,000 points making their rewards program unbeatable when compaired to other popular hotels. Thank you Econoldge near Quantico for all your kindness and hospitality during my lengthy stay, I look forward to many more nights of peace and tranquility at your wonderful property. Oh and dont forget to check out the complimenty breakfast nook right off the lobby at the front of the hotel for extra special breakfast goodies everymorning. Plus you will be pleasently surprised when you return from a hard days work or travel to find that the expert staff of maids has cleaned your room or suite top to bottom putting a big smile on your face everytime.

"Don’t stay here! People are killed in the rooms!"

2.0

I want my money back! When we got to the room, the room was horrendously disgusting! The walls had dried blood splatter and there was a hole in the wall with dried splattered blood as if someone got killed on the room! The sheets had dried blood on them! There were cockroaches in the bathroom! I want my money back! I am appalled!

"Don’t expect much"

4.0

I think I’ve stayed in worse motels. Just don’t recall when. The layout of the room was very nice. Like an efficiency apartment. All sorts of yucky stuff on the walls especially the bathroom. Toilet seat was so loose you had to be careful sitting on it so you didn’t fall on the floor. All in all I’ll probably look elsewhere if we’re in the area again.

"Health code violation"

2.0

We stayed at the Econo Lodge 17005 Dumfries road I have never experienced a worst stay in my life. When I checked into the original room on 6/30-7/2/2021 the mirror was broken into pieces the phone didn’t work no ring tone the carpet was stained horribly including the chairs curtains, mattress holes in the walls drug paraphernalia including used heroin needles inside the bathtub in room 322 holes in the blankets and sheets. Honestly I’m utterly disgusted and this violates The health code of conduct of Virginia including the fact of I have underline health conditions myself which made this a unsafe environment for me and my spouse. I wasn’t comfortable and couldn’t sleep properly I did discuss the issue with the front desk they gave bare minimum help all they did was move my room to 308 and insisted that the room was clean properly and checked by management before placing Guest in it which was a lie. Then when we got into room 308 it was slightly better at this point we gave up hope but nobody was trying to refund or help the circumstances. Room 308 the room smelled like mold the blankets had stains and holes yet again the tv didn’t work and the mattresses and both rooms were disgusting blood stains covered by half clean sheets bed bug juice and residue I’m the room also I got bitten by one. I am very dissatisfied ,unhappy also traumatize about how this hotel operates I will be escalating these issues to headquarters because this is unacceptable and unsafe for any human being on top of everything The audacity of selling rooms like this with no manager on duty the whole weekend including panhandlers and random people walking through a building thats suppose to be Secure. Below is the proof of evidence of my experience and I need to be compensated for this horrible experience.

"Good stay"

6.0

Nothing spectacular or awful about this place. Got a good rate through Booking.com. Several restaurants within walking distance. Desk clerks didn't seem very inviting. Not the largest parking lot, which seems to be shared with restaurant next door. Would stay again if the price is right.

"The pictures are SO decieving!"

4.0

I broke down on I95 in the middle of the night. This place was very well priced, only an exit up, and the pictures looked really good! Well, walking into the "lobby" you already know it is a well-worn hotel. It was late so inside the lobby was a locked door with a window and slot so they could do the transaction without contact. That also gives you a clue to this hotel. I bet you the Holiday Inn across the street doesn't have that. We checked in and the man gave us directions to the room. When we walked out the door and all the way down the outside of the building I am SURE he saw us yet he did not come to say "ladies come back this way". This resulted in us literally walking in a complete circle back to our room right near the office. Upon entering the hallway of the hotel you can def tell it has been a smoking hotel. Even though the signs on every door says non-smoking it probably wasn't always that way. The room reeks of mildew. One of the beds had long hairs on the pillow and the other on had icky stains on the blanket. I will post pics soon. The positives are the price and the fact that there are restaurants within walking distance. (Be sure to have breakfast next door at Montclair's!) Anyway, I'd pay a few dollars more for one of the other hotels. I hope my review was helpful? If so please click "YES"!

"Great price, close to DC, but oh that smell"

4.0

We were trying to get as close to DC as possible before we pulled in for the night. We stopped here because it’s an inexpensive hotel within an hour or so of Washington. They also very nicely accepted the coupon we had from one of those tourist magazines and many hotels don’t accept their own coupons these days, so that was nice. Anyway, the room was relatively clean but as others have mentioned there is a pretty significant odor problem in the rooms. We were on the second floor and we could smell a combination of cigarettes and probably chemicals to kill the cigarette smell. To tell you the truth they probably wish they could open all the windows for a week and air the place out. The people running the place are a very nice Indian family I believe, and they let us borrow some scissors which was very nice of them. Internet access was decent. I give the place two starts but four stars to the people trying to run this old hotel. Because the rooms has a significant odor I think I’d be worried about my health if I stayed here longer than one night, but the price is right for a hotel so close to DC. I wish them well.

"Keep Driving!"

2.0

Pulled in because it was very late and my kids were tired. Person at the front desk wasn't particularly helpful and took a long time to decide what the price should be. The drapes/comforters/towels in the room were old, stained, and had cigarette burns. The motel needs a good airing out because the entire motel smells like smoke. We stayed in room 112 and the road noise was horrible. Best advice is to keep driving. Choice Hotels should be ashamed!

"Bio-Hazard Movie Set?"

2.0

For $69/nite you get free mold, rust, a stained bed sheet, with at least one rip, and ice... in the fridge; not the freezer. This nights stay will be a memory maker. It was the ONLY hotel room available near DCA. Disclaimer: I was not permitted to submit my comments without providing a rating of at least one out of five.

"I would give it a 0 if I could"

2.0

We were stuck on the road late at night and decided to get a hotel instead of continuing. There was no vacancy at other nearby hotels, so I thought this place couldn't be too bad for one night. I was wrong. I've stayed in hostels nicer than this. The room itself smelled like a combination of stale cigarettes and mold. The sheets looked clean but the mattress was torn and dirty. The AC sounded like the Little Engine that Could. The free wifi? That's a sham too. The password didn't work and when my fiance called the front desk they said they'd reset it and then hung up on him. It never did end up working. The highlight of the room is that the door jamb is so torn and missing that you can see beneath the door straight to the sidewalk outside. I didn't expect much from this place given the price, but I don't think I'm asking too much to have a complete door. Choice Hotels should be ashamed to have this under their umbrella.
