Kitchen could be slight better supplied

The Machiya is clean and simple, with a nice mix of traditional charm and modern comfort. I like that there are two rooms on the second floor, Another plus was the small foyer at the entrance, where we could put our two big luggages - super useful for the packing and unpacking and the shopping packing. The location is superb just a 3-5 minutes walk to Yasaka Shrine and Kiyomizu-dera. It’s also right next to Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, the old streets lined with teahouses and shops.

Conveniently located near famous tourist attractions and bus stops, this traditional Japanese townhouse offers an authentic experience. 2 rooms ideal for families with teenager and a comfortable bathroom with a bathtub.

The living room is much smaller than expected, and there's no space to stretch your legs when sitting on the tatami, making it uncomfortable for long periods. I was expecting a sunken area under the tatami table for legroom, but this townhouse doesn't have one.

The traditional themed accommodation was an interesting change from the usual rooms. The checkin process was good to be able to do the paperwork near the station where we arrived then have a taxi take us near the accommodation.

It was a bit run down and showing signs of wear throughout. The staff would like to enforce policies different to those as written on the basis they usually get away with charging people without complaint, although in our case eventually we were refunded to match the booked conditions.

Our stay at Rinn Yasaka South in Kyoto was truly exceptional. The accommodations beautifully captured an authentic Japanese ambiance, providing an unique experience that perfectly reflected the local culture. The rooms were tastefully designed, blending traditional aesthetics with modern comfort, creating a serene and welcoming environment. The highlight of the stay was undoubtedly the bath, which exuded a delightful scent of pine. This subtle fragrance added a luxurious and soothing touch, making it the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring the city. Additionally, the location in the heart of the Gion district was ideal. It allowed for easy access to Kyoto’s most beautiful sights, cultural landmarks, and traditional streets. Staying here made it effortless to fully experience the charm and history of Kyoto. Overall, Rinn Yasaka South is an ideal choice for anyone looking to experience the true essence of Kyoto with the comforts of a traditional yet refined setting.
