Downtown Funchal Apartments by An Island Apart

L'emplacement de l'appartement est top. Nous avons pu découvrir Funchal et l'île en une semaine. L'appartement dispose de tous les équipements nécessaires et la propreté était impeccable.

Le chasse de la toilette qui coulait continuellement mais ce petit aspect négatif peut être rapidement réparé.

Amazing location, lovely apartment with everything you need. Comfy beds, lovely view on Funchal streets. Close to shops, restaurants, car parks...

Only one washing machine for 4 to 6 apartments.. it was hard to find a slot to watch the clothes after hikes

The place is big, nice, clean, in the center of Funchal, the kitchen is equipped with everything you need, with a little bit of effort you can even see the sea. The owner came promptly - even on 24.12., when I had a problem - and yet ...

First thing - the flush of the toilet kept running - the owner (nice enough, as it was Dec. 24) came fast and explained to me that I had to karate-chop the flush at exactly the right place, which after some trials I managed. So I kept karate-chopping the thing during my 2-weeks-stay. 2. The electronic lock is kind of an enigma. The code for entering is simple enough. But I stood several minutes/day to convince it to lock the door when I left - wonder how the elderly couple downstairs managed. During the night the thing kept blinking all the time on top of that. Seriously guys, whats wrong with a normal keysafe? - Still no reason yet to give less than 8-9 stars. But ... 3. The main issue is the storage room. The whole big apt. has no space whatsoever to store your clothes. Sure there is a kind of scaffold to hang your shirts and dresses, but there is one (1!) single tiny drawer, which is already full with manuals. So - no place to put your underwear, socks and laundry but together in your luggage or on the floor. Plus - the cleaning ladies know the code for the door and can enter whenever they like, which they did mondays - they apologized profusely, still this kept me worrying. Especially as the owners don't take responsibility for my valuables - understandably, but they don't offer a safe, either - or at least - did I already mention, there are no drawers!? So I had the choice of taking my computer and other stuff with me all the time or leave it in the open for the cleaning personal to handle at their discretion. I think 6 stars is quite generous under the circumstances.

La posizione è eccezionale, ai margini del centro storico, in una bella e storica via della città, in parte pedonale, in parte carrabile ma a senso unico. La comodità di vivere in centro, con tutti i servizi, ristoranti sotto casa, un grande supermercato dentro a un centro commerciale su più piani a soli 6 minuti a piedi, unita all'estrema tranquillità della zona (noi siamo stati una settimana all'ultimo dell'anno con una bambina e non abbiamo mai avvertito problemi di rumore, grazie anche ai moderni serramenti). La disponibilità dell'agenzia: risponde puntualmente a tutte le domande e le richieste, è estremamente precisa persino nell'inviare i manuali dei vari elettrodomestici, come le piastre o la lavatrice e asciugatrice, perché nello stabile c'è a disposizione degli ospiti una lavanderia con stireria self-service al II piano, ottimo servizio aggiuntivo. In cucina abbiamo trovato l'occorrente e i condimenti base, come olio, sale, pepe, caffè d'orzo, zucchero, rotolo di carta assorbente, canovaccio, spugna nuova e detersivo piatti.

Noi abbiamo alloggiato una settimana nel bilocale Levada dos cedros, al primo piano. Essendo uno stabile con una decina di appartamenti turistici ogni giorno è sempre presente il personale di pulizie per i check-in/out. Sarebbe quindi una bella cosa se ogni 2/3 giorni fosse compreso un veloce riassetto dell'appartamento per chi lo tiene una settimana. Nella lavanderia comune è presente comunque una scopa con paletta che si può usare. Consiglio all'agenzia di dotare l'ingresso dell'appartamento di un appendiabiti o dei ganci al muro per le giacche, lo spazio c'è, e un paio di ganci per i canovacci in cucina. Ma sono solo dettagli.

Great apartment, great location.

Our front door handle was practically hanging off outside and inside,not very secure. Unfortunately as beautiful as the parkay flooring was,it was noisy and we were on the ground floor,also our bedroom was under the utility room which was quite noisy at times!
