"Amazing real desert experience"

10.0

It is the real desert camp, tents are berber tents, the shower is a groundwater well shaft and the toilet is the desert :). The osais is situat at the bottom of the big dune so you can climb the dune whenever you want, the sunset above there are amazing. The Oasis is really beautiful. The tangine and the marokkan salad are the best I had in Marokko as they are freshly prepared and the tangine is freshly cooked for one hour. In the evening there is entertaniment with drums flute and singing by the camp owner, he is a good singer. The owner is very kind and helpful. It is no luxury camp but therefore full desert experience, I fully reccomend it. The luxury camps are on the border of the desert, but this camp is in the heart of the desert.

Nothing. I loved everything, I stayed two nights.

"It was perfect!"

10.0

You get exactly what you book! This is a lovely glamping in a real natural oasis right next to one of the biggest dunes of the area. The tents are super cute, beautiful and comfortable. The manager, Mohamed is doing everything to make you feel at home and happy. He organizes everything by himself and also cooks a great dinner and breakfast for you. We had a fresh salad, a vegetable Tajine and fruit as desert. He asked us if we where vegetarian and was the first person in Morocco to think of that possibility. Such a friendly and kind person! The tents had so much space which we didn’t even needed since we where mostly outside watching the stars at night. In the end we slept on a matrace outside on our carpet he unrolled for us. Magical experience! The place is super quiet and far enough away from any other camp. We heard a drum circle in the distance and it was lovely. Mohamed asked us if we wanted a fire and to play music but no one of us a musician and the fire would have taken away from the stars. But no doubt he would have done anything to make our stay even more amazing! Late at night we walked a little into the desert to have no light at all and felt very save. All in all, there was no doubt about how secure we where all the time in the oasis. The sunrise from the highest dune was great and the view stunning! Our stay could not have been any better at all! We where looking for 3 days for a camp in the desert that is not the luxury bullshit most others are! If you want an AUTHENTIC and ORIGINAL experience in the desert, this is your place! If you need a pool, hot shower, toilet and lots of fluff and stuff in your tent in the desert, maybe don’t come to the desert at all. About the transport: you can take a car or a camel and the prices for those transports are all the same all over merzouga. For the full experience we walked back next to our camels and also that worked perfectly fine. It’s about an hour through the desert from the camel meeting point.

A charming camp in the oasis under the biggest dune in the dessert, run by Mohammed, a very good host. He made sure that all of our needs were taken care of and offered us a lot of activities(a trip to see nomads and taste their cooking, he played drums for us, we went to see sunrise and sunset and lots of other, some of which we couldn't see becouse of limited time of our stay). The tents were clean and we were offered to sleep outside if we wanted. Mohammed made us the best tajine we had on our trip. The oasis isn't a luxury camp but an authentic place with charming host.If you want to have more of an authenic experience than hotel-like luxury camps, which are placed close to each other we recommend to chose Mohammed's camp that is far from other camps. Even thought we came a day early Mohamed made it so it wasn't a problem. He also got us camels for the trip and offered us quad bikes. If you are interested in those Mohamed will take care of it. We've felt comfortable for our whole stay. Its better to stay more than one day, the dessert is beatifull and there are a lot of things to see.

Everything was great.

My friend and I booked quite spontaneously a night at the oasis desert camp! One night in the desert turned out to be a warm hearted adventure filled with amazing food, a beautiful camp site, a wonderful host Mohamed and his Collegue Hamid, with who we spend the whole night in the sand dunes listening to music and dancing and talking! Mohamed and Hamid played some drums for us and we got such an interesting and real insight into the ways of living in the desert/Moroccan traditions! I can truly recommend the place to meet an amazing person who welcomes you with a big heart into his home! His kindness and passion for his culture are very inspiring ! We are so happy about this experience and it will stay in our hearts forever ! Anna & Anna

"The most authentic Sahara Desert experience on offer, with the most gorgeous family ever"

10.0

Our stay at Oasis Desert Camp Obira was a total dream, and it is the most authentic overnight experience you can have in the Sahara Desert. While all of the other camps are flashy and located on the edge of the desert, Oasis Desert Camp Obira is one of the first and only camps actually located in the dunes. Mohammed, Mustafa and their mother are some of the kindest people we met in Morocco. The food they prepared us (tagine, breakfast and tea and snacks) was incredible, and we only wish we had more time to stay longer. Mohammed took us to visit a hub where local berber people gather and play music, and he offered to take us to visit a nomadic tribe which we sadly didn't have time for. I cannot recommend this Sahara Desert experience enough - you won't find a nicer family anywhere, and they will go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and meet your needs. Mohammed was extremely open and communicative, and he can help you organise pretty much anything! I will carry this special experience with me forever, and I would return in a heartbeat.

Nothing - our stay was perfect, and we only wish we had longer.

"A-MA-ZING !!!"

10.0

I was looking for a real old-fashioned camp (no toilets or showers) to live an experience close to real Berbers and Tuareg🙂 The bivouac is located just below the highest dune of Erg Chebbi. A camp quite far from other luxury camps for the calm and serenity of the place. I thank Mohamed, a brother, and his mother 🙏 for the welcome and their kindness 😇 I had an incredible stay (2 nights there including 1 night under the stars!) 😄 If you're looking for something authentic, this is the place to come! Thank you Mohamed and see you soon brother!😃

"Unforgettable experience in secluded oasis, away from other camps"

10.0

The Obira camp is the only remaining option that I know of for staying in the dunes, as almost all other camps are grouped along the edge of the dunes. This makes for more solitude (away from the loud sounds of the other camps) and more time in the dunes after others have left in the evening or before they come in the morning. It is in an oasis at the foot of one of the biggest dunes, so you can get an amazing view for sunset that you cannot get at the other camps. It is Mohamed and his family that really make the experience, though. Mohamed was in regular contact for weeks before our stay and was in Merzouga to greet us when we arrived. Despite often being in the dunes away from internet connection, he always found a way to respond very quickly. He is very invested in the satisfaction of every guest and will go out of his way to make it a better experience for you. The food, made by Mohamed’s mother, was delicious, and the family played the drums around the fire after it. The tent was a bit hot at night in May, but Mohamed had already set up a large mat with mattresses outside for each tent for stargazing and to sleep outside if preferred, which several of us did and it was very comfortable. Mohamed is also very well connected and can set up any tours or experiences you wish to do. Do not hesitate to book it if you can handle a lack of facilities for a night. If you have any questions before booking, Mohamed is very responsive on WhatsApp at the number he provided on this listing.

Nothing. However, do not expect luxury. The tents were spacious and beds were actually quite comfortable, but they were basic. They set up candles and lights outside and are happy to provide candles in your tent as well. There is no toilet or shower, but they are available upon return to the meeting spot in Merzouga.
