Villa Thamburu, Bentota

Such a wonderful hotel. Only 15 rooms, so you get more personalised service. The staff couldn't be nicer, nothing was too much to ask. The food was delicious, we ate in the hotel restaurant every day.

There aren't many worthwhile activities in the area. Turtle hatcheries are a scam and for day tours the hotel is located quite far from the main attractions such as Colombo, Galle or the national parks. Come here if you want to relax by the pool or on the beach, enjoy the stellar service and unwind!

Excellent hotel with European quality level. Service, level of staff, atmosphere, everything in this hotel helps to relax and restore strength. I highly recommend it to anyone who is far from excessive authenticity, who appreciates high standards of service. This is truly a paradise in Sri Lanka.

Beautifully designed hotel with manicured gardens right down to the beach. Fantastic food and top notch service. Great cocktails. Room was very comfortable (included turn-own service), with a private balcony overlooking the sea. Welcome fruit-platter delivered to the room on arrival was a nice touch!

Quite pricy but you get what you pay for. Missed a room-service menu for food/drinks. Non-alcoholic drink selection only in mini-bar but assume you can order anything to the room. Don't think they offer spa treatments.

The location on the beach was perfect. The staff from housekeeping to Manager were fabulous and couldn't do enough for us. The New Years celebrations the hotel organised were both memorable and wonderful. Special mentions to Sumilal for always making sure we had a sunbed and towel. To Sanjewa, Rohan, Janaka and the other Restaurant staff who were all so helpful and friendly. To Amal and the kitchen team, who supplied the most impressive culinary delights. To Danesh the driver for amazing day trips and guided tours and finally to Charminda and the reception staff who were always there at our beck and call - wonderful staff working at a magical hotel- Thankyou.

Our first stop in Sri Lanka and we struck gold. What an elegant and beautiful boutique hotel Thamburu is. We were so fortunate to be given the whole hotel experience with all the staff waiting on us at all times and we had the whole boutique villa to ourselves for 2 days. The food was delicious and the service was 10/10. The villa is impeccably clean and its minimalist decor stunning. Would definitely go again. We loved every moment of our time there. So relaxing.

Wow! We have just had the most incredible three nights at Villa Thamburu. The villa is perfection, the beach is stunning, it is so relaxing and we were incredibly well looked after by the friendliest staff. The food was delicious and we enjoyed lots of cocktails too! My husband and I have been lucky enough to travel widely and this has to be one of the best places we have ever stayed. Thank you so much for making our short time in Sri Lanka so magical.
