Villa Thamburu, Bentota

The staff were so kind and caring. The chef was great! The property has a very zen feel, quiet and pared back. The small scale meant the staff knew you and it was very personal. There was a complimentary tuk tuk into Bentota, about 4 ks away.

There were no shops nearby. No spa or guests lounge for showering etc when waiting for late flights.

Excellent staff who were very friendly and helpful.

Hard to fault Villa Thamburu. It is a stunning location, designed by Ricardo Flores it is a gorgeous on the eye, the food is high quality and the staff are wonderful across the board.

Beautiful property perfectly integrated in the landscape, superb design. The loungers under the trees facing the beach. Morning walks on the beach. Excellent food, don’t miss out on the Sri Lankan breakfast!

Beautiful hotel, a true work of art! Impeccably decorated throughout. Staff very helpful, friendly. Restaurant staff extremely well trained. Food excellent. Rooms and beds very comfortable.

Evenings can be a little quiet as not much to do at the hotel and a little far from town. A little pricey for Sri Lanka

Really amazing food at the restaurant, really tastefully done interiors and well thought out - your ear will ring with mellow jazz while you wash the city away in the beautiful pool opposite the beach while gulping down a cool curry leaf and lime cocktail (Neverland incase you are looking for recommendations) The room and overall service was really good. The beach is lovely. No complaints. Do NOT miss the restaurant - great cocktails, great srilankan curry, lovely homemade ice cream and panacota. Thank you Rohaan for the great service and recommendations at the restaurant.

Perhaps a Spa and gym would have be great additions

Beautiful hotel, great staff. Perfect for 2/3 nights

Warm welcome with cold towels and afternoon tea. Our twin bedded room wasn’t huge but more than adequate. Comfy bed, good pillows and quality of bedding. Wonderful bathroom with bath and rainforest shower. Lovely products and strong hairdryer. The villa is perfectly situated on a wonderful sandy beach - there are some beach bars and restaurants if needed. However the food in the hotel is amazing and of similar price so to be honest I would just eat here. In addition to the fab beach there is a small swimming pool. As mentioned above the food is of top quality. Breakfast was outstanding - either Sri Lankan or continental including freshly made juices, cut fruit and a good choice of hot dishes. Coffee was the best we had in our 10 days in Sri Lanka. Both our evening meals were also faultless. Nice touch that they offer complimentary king coconut mid morning and afternoon tea All staff are very helpful but Special mention to Janaka, Sanjevee and the Executive Chef who kindly gave me a cookery lesson. Would highly recommend this very well run boutique hotel.

Absolutely perfect. Villa Thamburu is a luxury boutique hotel with 5 star service and unreal food. We spent the final 6 nights of our honeymoon here and couldn’t have been in a better place. The staff are brilliant and go above and beyond at every opportunity. The hotel itself is stunning, with beautifully designed and clean comfortable rooms. The food is divine. Everything here is done with such care and attention to detail. The atmosphere is tranquil and serene - with only 15 rooms it feels really exclusive. Would recommend for couples looking for a calm retreat.
