The design, the quiet luxury, the attention to detail, the impeccable service, the location directly on an incredible beach..

The only thing it’s missing is a spa. Doesn’t need to be anything fancy, but a resident masseur that you can book would be great. Or maybe even a yoga class.

We had an absolutely magical stay at Villa Thamburu. The decor of the place is stunning and all the small details are absolutely nailed. It was so nice to be able to rest by the pool then just toddle down to the beach for a swim. The food served at the restaurant is fantastic too. All in 10/10, would highly recommend!

Das Hotel ist ein Traum. Die Zimmer sind wunderschön und auch die Anlage ist super gepflegt und sauber. Jeder einzelne Mitarbeiter ist zuvorkommend und freundlich, man wird immer angelächelt und jeder ist bemüht, dass der Aufenthalt perfekt ist. Das Essen im Restaurant ist zwar etwas teuerer als überall anders, dafür ist es auch sehr lecker. Die Lage am Strand ist auch Top.

I recently returned from a wonderful stay at Villa Thamburu, and it was easily the highlight of my trip to Sri Lanka. As a solo traveler, I found the property to be a beautiful, intimate sanctuary that offers the perfect blend of modern luxury and coastal tranquility. The Breakfast I felt compelled to mention this after seeing a bizarre 1/10 review from last week criticizing the food. I honestly couldn't disagree more—the breakfast was exceptional. From the traditional Sri Lankan hoppers to the fresh international options, everything was high-quality, beautifully presented, and delicious. It was easily one of the best breakfast experiences I’ve had at a boutique hotel. Highlights of the Stay • The Design: The villa’s architecture and garden layout create a very peaceful, upscale atmosphere. • The Service: The staff are incredibly attentive and genuine; they truly went out of their way to make me feel welcome and looked after. • Location: Having the beach just steps away for sunset walks was a dream. Final Verdict: If you are looking for top-tier service and a tranquil escape in Bentota, ignore the outliers. Villa Thamburu is a 5-star experience through and through. I can’t wait to return — next time with my wife and teenagers.

Die Ausstattung ist außergewöhnlich gut, sehr durchdacht und architektonisch asiatisch gestaltet mit hochwertigen Materialien. Der Service ist sehr angenehm und das Essen hervorragend. Direkter Strandzugang zu einem herrlichen und ruhigen Strand bei Bentota. Eine tolle Atmosphäre um sich wirklich zu erholen. Wir haben die Tage wirklich genossen. Der Pool ist genug für richtige Schwimmzüge. Wir hatten ein tolles Sylvesterfeuerwerk und Drinks am Meer.

Das Zimmer hat keinen richtigen Meerblick. Der Manager hat uns dafür ein Abendessen angeboten, was sehr smart war und kundenorientiert

Beautiful architecture created a serene and relaxing environment. We enjoyed the peace and tranquility and the pool area was well equipped with sun loungers and plenty of space between them. The pool was lovely and it was great watching the sunset sitting in bean bags on the beach. The menu was varied and delicious. Despite being one of the smaller rooms, we were very comfortable. The bathroom was luxurious and we enjoyed sitting in our sunny private balcony for our morning cup of tea. I gave in some laundry to the front desk shortly after we arrived early afternoon and it was returned before dinner! We’d definitely go back!
