"Beautiful surroundings needs more attention to the little things inside"

6.0

Very pretty surroundings and the stables building was lovely. Comfortable beds Distinctive furniture that fit the period Good parking Lovely soft and huge towels Plenty of storage/hanging space in the bedroom Coat rack near the door, very useful

All of the doors creaked very noisily It was very hot and there wasn’t any instructions relating to the heating The seal around the shower cubicle base was very dirty and needed replacing The rooms were very dark. I appreciate that it’s an old building and our apartment was surrounded by trees, but even though it was a beautiful day outside, we had to have all the lights on. The dim lighting in the bedroom made it difficult to put make up on. The only mirror in the bathroom was above the bath, so not easy to use for make up or shaving. There wasn’t any operating instructions for any of the appliances. There was only 4 of everything in the crockery, so although there was a dish washer, unless we ran the dishwasher nearly empty, we had to wash up before we could use items again. We seems to negate having a dishwasher. There were plenty of glasses. No space for toiletries in the bath room

Excellent venue for our family gathering. Space for all, with room to retreat if needed. Peacocks wandering past the door, out sitting on the window ledge were an unexpected treat. Beautiful countryside, and close to Richmond

"Poor customer service , not clean."

Review of Marske Stables - The War Horse Suite Upon our arrival on Friday for check-in, we discovered that the remote control for the television was missing. Given the limited activities in the surrounding area, we considered it essential for relaxation at night. We contacted the hotel staff to inquire about its whereabouts, but were advised to search for it. This was an unexpected and unacceptable situation. After searching under the bed and removing cushions from the sofas, we were informed that the remote was on the table next to the television or on the coffee table. We repeated the search but were unsuccessful. During this process, we discovered dirt, dust and hair under the bed and between the cushions on the sofa. We were also informed that a maintenance person would deliver a remote control, but this did not occur. On Saturday, the War Horse suite was located next to the cleaning cupboard. This caused a significant disturbance as the cleaner made excessive noise outside the suite and upstairs for over an hour. Following the cleaning, we were disturbed by barking and howling dogs, which had been left unattended. There is a £35 surcharge for bringing a dog and the hotel’s policy prohibits them from being left unattended. The War Horse shower was also problematic due to water build-up, necessitating the removal of water to prevent flooding. Fortunately, neither my wife nor I are disabled, which would have made this impossible. The complimentary toiletries were also inadequate. Overall, we were deeply disappointed with the owners and management’s lack of support. The customer service was deplorable and a significant letdown for the price paid.

"Not up to your usual standard. We have travelled the world with you and have always been satisfied."

We cannot think of a single thing that we liked about it.

The apartment had 2 double bedrooms but a tiny dining table with 2 chairs. {see photo}. There had clearly been a dog or dogs in there . From the smell it had not had a deep clean as you would expect. The velvet drapes hung on the floor at the entrance hall {see photo} The soft furnishings were stained and dusty. Rugs were a trip hazard.{see photo} The floor in the living area and bathroom was stone flagstones with underfloor heating. It worked in some areas intermittently. There were no staff on site. We rang a number and spoke to a lady who sent out a handyman. He fiddled around with various switches but did not appear to have a clue what he was doing. We spoke with 10 people who were staying who were all having problems with heat. One family had been relocated and another had been there for 5 days without any heat at all and were told that a part had been ordered for the boiler. The apartment was dark and gloomy as the grounds had not been maintained. Other guests parked up against our bedroom windows and there were no blinds so we had to keep our curtains closed. [see photo} We had a small patio area with a bistro table and 2 chairs{see Photo}. That really was the final straw - would you sit on that.

"Lovely short break away"

8.0

We stayed at Farriers and Woodcutters cottage as a family. We had a great stay. Very spacious rooms all with their own en-suite. Beautiful area with access to local pubs and walks only a short drive away.

The property would benefit from a deep clean. There is a significant amount of dust built up around the property. Farriers Cottage smelt of dust. The bed frames were extremely noisy and would squeak every time you moved. The mattresses probably need a refresh too. It’s a shame some regular TLC and more thorough cleaning could turn this property into a 10/10. Would definitely visit again though.

Location was great tastefully decorated with horse related accessories

Kitchen lacking in utensils no tin opener no whisk no wooden spoon only 2 small rectangular dishes to use in oven Washing machine in kitchen but no airers or facilities to get clothes dry we eventually found a guest book hidden down side of unit in lounge which had a few leaflets of ideas of places to visit Also a list of equipment in kitchen but alot of things on list were not there We did contact staff as upstairs shower was dripping water through ceiling into lounge and we're provided with a drip tray for the lounge floor we did however enjoy our holiday visiting places in the surrounding area.
