Most magical and healing experience I’ve had. All therapists are amazing, and the staff was super kind and helpful. Don’t miss paddle boarding with world pro Hector. Incredible rooms right over the most beautiful lagoon ever with clear turquoise fresh water. Janzu therapy with Monica is another most. Just bring mosquito repelent!

An incredible oasis in a silent part of the Bacalar lagoon. If you’re looking to escape this is the place for you. Everything was designed to make sure you relaxed and escaped the real world. A gem of a place.

This place is overrated. We were there four days and there weren't any staff on site that we could find in the holistic center of the property. There was a juice bar that was never staffed and always had dirty dishes around. Confusing. Also there is no furniture to speak of other than beds. No chairs to sit upright in the over water cabanas. The food is horrible and menu misleading with many unmentioned substitutions. The whole place felt like it was trying to cater to weekend visitors as opposed to weekday stays. Disappointing. Also around the property, on the drive in and around the organic structures, broken glass and broken furniture, looked like maybe they were going to upcyle but who knows, it just looked ratty.

The villas were beautiful! It felt like we had the lagoon to ourself! The people who work there were great! Luis and hector really stood out to as as very helpful. There was also a man in the restaurant that was amazing. He knew a lot of information and was very helpful…. We didn’t get his name. The food at Akalki wasn’t the best. The breakfast was good, the rest wasn’t that great. Overall a great trip! Would definitely recommend akalki to all!

Akalki is a true treasure! This is my second time in Bacalar and Akalki offers the best hotel option out of all the hotels I’ve visited there (to stay or to have lunch or dinner). The staff’s service level is incredible! They really go out of their way to make you feel special and taken care of. The hotel grounds are impecable and right on the lagoon… and on the most secluded and tranquil part of the lagoon. Great to rest and relax. It is the only hotel to have villas over the water like in Bali, the Maldives and Bora Bora. Such an amazing experience to sleep over perfect turquoise crystal clear water with white sand! The restaurant is great (specially loved breakfast) and the spa is amazing! It is more than a spa… it is a healing center with body and spiritual treatments like no other. All together, I would recommend Akalki to go enjoy Bacalar. I wouldn’t go anywhere else and I will be back!!!

Akalki is one of the most unique places I have visited. The grounds of Akalki and the areas around the lagoon are inviting, relaxing, quiet, friendly and precious. The food excellent. Loved the tea by your door in the morning, the stuff was excellent and attentive. Will be back for sure.
