Indra Manel Family Holiday Resort Kandy

The resort is located in a wonderful place with some breathtaking views. Even the landscape arrangement around pool area provides a calm, natural vibe. The building is bit old, but it manages to provide the service up to a customer satisfactory level. All the facilities are functioned well except the dialog tv connection in our room.

Its better to upgrade the bed mattresses.

Kandy was our fourth stop during our 15-day tour of Sri Lanka. The city itself we did not like much because it's so busy and filled with exhaust fumes. It is for this reason that we decided to stay a bit outside of the city, closer to nature (Knuckles Mountain range). Driving our own tuktuk, we had the freedom to move around at our own pace. Most of the accommodations we stayed at during our trip were small scale. Indra Manel Family Holiday Resort was the exception to the rule. It's a proper hotel. At the time we stayed here (20-22 March), the place was as good as empty. In a way it's nice and quiet, yet it also felt a bit deserted. Nevertheless, the staff did their utmost best to make us feel welcome and cook up a nice breakfast, which we enjoyed on the terrace near the pool. Mind that, if you feel like having a drink at night, you are quite far away from everything. We found a nearby place (Shanaka Beer House, 15-minute walk) to have a cold Lion. It was not often they received tourists and with my girlfriend, the very first time they had a female visitor :-). Summarized: if you have your own transport and prefer to stay outside of the city in a well-maintained accommodation, Indra Manel Family Holiday Resort is a hotel we recommend.

No proper welcome for the guests. Everybody is doing their work while we are arriving. No welcome drinks as a ritual
