"York 2024"

7.0

Layout of house good - parking permit was excellent. Down side. No mirror or accesable plug in twin room. Main bedroom bed very hard with little room to manouver around the bed. Eg sitting on bed to out socks on. Resorted to sitting on the toilet to have sufficient room to out socks on!!! Reported faulty flooring in the kitchen but lounge flooring soft in places which was disconcerting. Stairs proved a challenge for my wife as currently walking with difficulty. Overall the four of us were happy in the house. Would have appreciated BBC1 on the TV.

Mentioned TV - A guide to operate it would be helpful. Battery in remote is low.

It's difficult to review 6 Falkland Street because the experience was mixed. The location is great, not too far from the centre, in a quiet residential area. There is a small enclosed garden. The house has a lovely kitchen with a breakfast bar and table & chairs. We had a problem that resolved the next day - Jo from the management company was great.

The first night sleep was awful because the single bedframes creaked every time we moved. When we checked the reviews, this problem was mentioned back in December. Jo found us another house to move to, but we couldn't cope with re-packing the car & unloading again. Plus, we had plans for the day so we resigned ourselves to sleeping on the floor for the rest of the stay. Luckily, the owner's son was in York & he bought new bedframes & assembled them that day. He apologised & gave us a bottle of wine & chocolates. At least this has been resolved now so don't let this put you off staying. Other things worth a mention: It was quite chilly in the mornings & we couldn't adjust the temperature, so it might be worth asking for instructions before your trip. The drainer is just a rubber mat to the left of the sink. It's's not really adequate so it's best to use the dishwasher rather than wash by hand. The house is missing a few things I would expect in a rental - kitchen towel, broom, dustpan & brush, Pyrex bowls, small frying.pan etc. The owner was made aware, so hopefully, these items will be provided in the future. The downstairs shower is poorly designed. It doesn't have an enclosed door, so the floor gets soaked. A floor towel is provided but it is wringing wet after a shower. I am reviewing our stay so don't let this review put you off staying because the bed problem has been resolved & hopefully a few more kitchen basics will be provided in future.

"Disappointing"

4.0

Heating was off in downstairs bathroom due to radiator valve not responding. Host office replied that it was working but we couldn't get it to heat up and no instructions were there for the radiator/heating. Upstairs bathroom shower had very weak flow and with the downstairs bathroom freezing cold we couldn't take showers (there were four of us incl kids). We decided to leave after one night and asked for a partial refund for second night. The host office refused, saying the radiator was working- even though we couldn't get it to heat at all.

Property is gorgeous. Fabulous living area and very functional. Great location.

The beds !!! The frame creaked if you moved slightly so we kept waking each other up so we were shattered in the morning and the mattress was really hard. En-suite Bathroom needed a mirror

The location was handy to town and station.it was a quiet area even though it was in a street.the kitchen and living room was ample big enough for 4of us.

The parking discs was inside the house but on booking form said there was no parking. Could have been explained better.

"Overall, a great stay."

8.0

Fabulous, quiet location but very close to city centre. Well presented, cosy and clean. Would return again.

Downstairs shower room cold. Brush and dustpan in kitchen would have been helpful. No salt or pepper, cling film/foil or kitchen roll - all would have made a big difference.
