Quiet self-catering holiday home with surrounding lakes

Property was in a lovely and quiet area. We came for a fishing weekend so this town is the perfect spot. House was cosy with all cooking/washing essentials. Lovely big patio/garden for children to play. Hosts were very accommodating to allowing us later checkout time which was great!

Internet very slow and Netflix on tv didn’t work due to this. Steps into dining area and out to kitchen were a trip hazard, two of our party fell and badly bruised themself. Gate down to pond could do with a more secure lock closure for child safety.

Heating took a while to warm the house on arrival.

The home was plenty big for our stay with 2 x double bedrooms, bunk beds and a pull out sofa bed. 15 minute walk to the town and a couple minutes in the car. Tesco was handy for getting supplies in for breakfast or main meals. We was fairly central to visit family in the local area. Although, if you did want a night on the town be aware there are limited taxi services and the country lane is dark to walk down at night. Great food in the Bailie hotel and a fantastic night in Daly's bar offering live music with a great selection of non-alcoholic/ alcoholic drinks. I would recommend bringing a hi viz jacket and have a torch if you were to walk back after an evening out. Had a great night's sleep, beds were comfortable. Games to play with and books provided to read. Plenty of radiators to ensure we were warm during our end of October stay. Towels and toiletries were provided which was a bonus. Little pond and toys in the garden for everyone to enjoy and some fish food provided if you want to feed the fish. Views were amazing. We had a great stay and would return to this cottage again.

The lack of taxi services in the area however, this is no fault of the hosts.

Safe, cosy and spacious. Great for families!

Towels were a bit tired and there wasn’t enough! House could do with a d clothes dryer
