SALEM House Hostel Nizwa

The Private room with attached bathroom is the best option for singles or couples. Huge, clean and quiet. The manager is a great person, friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful especially in getting together Singleton‘s with others for a trip with those who have card. He can also arrange a great guide for those who need one. Location is great, just a few minutes walking from the Fort and restaurants. This place is friendly, very clean and comfortable with access to a washing machine.

Some, like me, my find the handwritten signs on the walls pointing out the hostels expectations around hygienic and considerate behaviour of guest. While I found this of putting, the wonderful Host explained that it seemed to be the only way that inconsiderate guests paid attention to house rules. He said that since putting up the handwritten signs on the walls, negative behaviour had been successfully reduced.

Location

Great value In ideal location in Nizwa. Emmjay is an excellent host and it’s worth staying at the property to hear his infectious laugh. Property was clean and filtered water was always available.

Water pressure in bathrooms wasn’t great but it’s manageable.

The hostel was super comfy and clean, the kitchen was more than well equipped. But Emmjay who runs the hostel is literally the best! Very attentive and helpful. An absolutely amazing guy who's so much fun to talk to! Thank you for the great time <3

Der Gastgeber des Hostel Emjay war sehr freundlich , lustig und vor allem sehr bemüht. Er hat uns eine Liste mit Tipps geschrieben. Wir hatten ein riesiges Zimmer mit eigenem Bad. Die Lage war ideal. Konnte prima zu Fuß ins Zentrum. Parkplätze genügend vorhanden. Supermarkt direkt unten im Haus. Das Bad war schon alt und einfach, aber der Wohnraum tipptopp. Die Gemeinschaftsküche war sehr gut ausgestattet.

Das Hostel war mit Google Maps nicht ganz leicht zu finden.

Who works there

I reserved the private room (the better and bigger one) and I understand it's a hostel and not a luxury hotel, but the bed was broken, the air conditioning was very noisy (I had to choose between being cool or sleeping), I encountered a bed bug, and honestly, having to dry the floor of the bathroom (that smell a lot of bleach) because there's no shower curtain seems absurd to me.
