"A pleasent 3 night stay."

8.0

We have had a pleasant 3 night stay at Eks valley house over the Bank Hoilday weekend. We were the first to use the house since it recently had a refresh and update. It was very clean, fresh and well presented when we arrived and had a comfortable welcoming feel. Bedrooms were tastefully decorated with plenty of storage in each of the 4 rooms. Each floor had a bathroom making it an ideal place for 2 families to enjoy at a very reasonable price. With a bonus Xbox gaming room (or extra snug) with Dvds and separate dining room as well as an extra downstairs toilet /shower there is plenty of space in the house. The kitchen had plenty of plates, pans and utensils for you to cook up a meal for 8. It was a nice touch to leave some washing up liquid hand soap and extras in the bathroom as well as provideing towels. The drive will easily take a normal family car. A map on the main road shows a lovely short walk around the village, great for a morning dog walk and locals were welcoming. We saw horses going past the house daily! The neighbourhood is also quiet and the local Spar is within walking distance to the house. Whitby is a short drive making this a great location. Great communication from the owners who were on hand if needed. This was our first time booking with booking.com and found the process easy.

Only a couple of minor points, we missed having  some steak knifes in the kitchen and the dishwasher door opens suddenly when pulled and drops quickly landing on your shins if not careful. A sign on the door would make others aware. A handbook showing how to work the heating and TV, what the parking disk was for, when bins go out. etc may be useful for other. Having already looked on Google maps before booking, we knew we would have to park our extra long wheelbase van on the road in front of the house as it wouldn't have fitted on the drive, (no problem for a normal car) but the angle to get it in front was tricky with a couple of vans either side, so we parked just down the road instead. A pleasent chat with the owner of the vans revealed that he was hoping to move them soon to some land down the road.
