Communication through Booking worked well overall. We were greeted politely and didn’t have to wait too long for check-in, which was still within a reasonable timeframe. The apartment is very centrally located, which makes it easy to explore Palermo by foot. Most sights, restaurants, and markets are within walking distance. The host kindly let us into the apartment earlier than the official check-in time, which we appreciated and found helpful.

Unfortunately, despite the central location, our stay was far from relaxing. When we arrived, the apartment didn’t seem fully ready. The host was still putting pillowcases on in front of us and told us we could already “look around.” It felt rushed. The coffee machine still had empty pods and trash left over from the previous guest – suggesting that the cleaning had been done carelessly. The overall atmosphere of the building was very unpleasant. The apartment is located down narrow, uninviting alleyways, and as a woman, I wouldn’t have felt comfortable walking there alone after dark. A neighbor downstairs made us feel extremely unwelcome – yelling at us several times without reason and behaving rudely. We speak Italian and understood some arguments she had with her husband as well. My husband stood his ground, but we felt very uncomfortable overall. At night, it was hard to sleep. People rang the doorbell late, there was yelling in the stairwell, and no sound insulation at all. There was also a strong smell of cigarettes throughout the house, which made its way into the apartment. To make things worse, the balcony door didn’t close properly, and considering the uneasy feeling we already had in the area, it made us feel insecure about leaving any belongings inside. At one point, the wind blew through the front door and caused part of the doorframe upstairs to collapse. We were shocked and contacted the host – but it seemed like it wasn’t the first time this had happened. All in all, the place was not designed or prepared for tourist stays. While the location is great on paper, we would not recommend it to other travelers.

It has a very good location, a great market nearby, and the center of the city is right around the corner. It is great if you stay for less than a couple of nights. Everything was clean, and no bad smells. The bed is pretty comfortable.

1. Apartments are completely not soundproof. Take an earplugs with you before the trip because you will hear everything that is going on in the streets. I have no idea if this is a thing in general for Palermo or this apartment, but my sleep was very light because of it. 2. There is no ventilation in bathroom whatsoever, so the only way to get some fresh air in is to keep it open all the time. 3. What is the point of having a microwave if there is no plate/basic cutlery?.. Even a basic cheapest pair of cutlery would made it much much better. 4. We had troubles make ac work
