"We had high hopes but left feeling quite disappointed"

5.0

The pub downstairs was cosy and quirky and the staff gave us a warm welcome. Its location was ideal for Manorbier beach and castle.

When looking for a cosy mid winter short break we happened upon the Keep at the Manorbier Castle Inn and felt it sounded and looked exactly what we were looking for. However on arrival this feeling soon evaporated. Having not eaten we were told that food wasn’t being served. At no point was this stated before arrival, and being the only place in town this was not ideal. After finding another pub doing food in another village we decided to head back to the pub for a nightcap. Not long after sitting down with a drink the barman suddenly stated that he was closing due to an emergency and kicked us out at 6.30pm and closed up. This left is with just our room for entertainment, which we soon discovered had no working wifi connection to watch the tv. We had to connect to our personal phone internet. Also we discovered multiple issues with the room. There was a kettle and tea making facilities but no cups and only one glass. The bathroom has a see through glass door which is very odd and quite awkward when going to the toilet. Also when using the toilet at night the glass door lets all the light in so is quite disturbing to people sleeping. The bed was awful and very soft and we kept falling into a dip in the middle. I hardly slept because of this. Also I Managed to bang my head on the wooden bed frame and is a hazard. There are no bedside tables and minimal hooks to hang things on. Especially in the bathroom. Lastly the main door that goes outside has a see through glass panel that means anyone can look inside with little privacy if they wished to and made us uncomfortable and awkward to relax. All in all we had a terrible nights sleep and won’t be back.

"Compact room, nice staff"

6.0

Great location for the wedding I attended in Manobier Castle

Room was very small, no wardrobe or full length mirror. Room is an annex up a narrow staircase off the beer garden. Can be very loud at night

"Pleasant"

6.0

The food in the pub restaurant was excellent.

The bed mattress was uncomfortable, had a dip in the middle we both fell into. When the shower was used, the drain was clogged, so the shower tray was filled with water, and the sink in the bathroom had a plug that didn't fit the hole.

"Small room at the back of a village pub"

7.0

It was very peaceful and quiet, in a pretty village. The room had a kettle and a small fridge. The bathroom, though small, was adequate. The staff were helpful and friendly. The room was well lit.

The mattress on the bed was very soft and uncomfortable. The room was rather too small. The glass pane in the door let light stream in.

"Excellent quiet stay at the middle of a seaside village"

9.0

The hotel was in the Manorbier Village where you will find 1-2 pubs for food and 1 Londis for grocery. The beach is 0.5-0.6 miles away from the Manorbier beach. You can have your breakfast at 'Manorbier House' cafe which is just opposite the hotel. Although the hotel is part of the pub, the noise is very very low in the hotel room as the hotel and pub are slightly detached.

The food options in the pub can be slightly more elaborate and can improve a little more for better taste. However, the staff of the hotel is excellent at doorstep food delivery.
