Boutique Hotel de Kade Zaandam-Amsterdam

It was a disastrous night. I did not sleep all night because there were bed bugs. I sent a picture via email to the hotel and they never responded. This is disastrous. You should not deal with them.

Very nice room

Complicated check in, parking around quiet hard to get

mattress felt a bit lumpy, little bit noicey at night from bar downstairs but managed to drown it out with white noise. I was a bit panicky about check in as no staff but it seemed to flow ok, messages were responded to but maybe not as quick as my anxiety would have liked.

The room was clean, spacious and stylish. We had everything we needed and the hotel is a 5 minute walk from a square with bars and restaurants. The staff were very helpful via phone and always picked up quickly. The hotel does not have a reception desk or room key, everything is online. It's easy once you know what to do, but maybe it's good to know you need internet on your phone so you can unlock the doors via a webpage :)

The 'boutique' hotel is in reality 6 rooms of a town hose over avery quiet bar which is rarely open. It's in a quiet part of town with nice local eateries nearby, and for me the location is superb as it is about 30 m from my son's apartment. I know the area well. But your room is all you get. I had the best room in the house, room 2.

As I said all you get is a room, and basically no personal interaction, which is OK till you have a problem. One problem with my stay is there were no towels. This was sorted on Day 2 when I bumoed into sekeeper. No reply from the owners to my e-mail. Two major problems with the rooms. Those with en-suite, have motion sensor switches for them. There is no way to use the bathroom without being blasted wit light, which takes ages to go off. Being somewhat older I have to visit a couple og times in the night. But that light would have woken my husband and I would have been dealing with a seriously Mr Grumpy for the trio. A simple on off sitch would be a major improvement. There are industrial door closures on the room doors. So when the guest in room 1, which is not en suite, had to visit the landing wc about every ten minutes between 10.00pm and 12.00pm I was kept awake because of the room door banging shut. Coffee making facilities are a Nexpresso; never been able to make them work. Nor had anyone before me as all the pods had little dents in the top. There is a kettle. I bought a couple of mugs from the nearby Deka. Paper cups don't hack it. Given there is catering facility a fridge would..
