River Wye Hostel

Great location , clean and very kind host.

Not having to share my room and the peace and quiet

No signage confirming I was in the correct location, no reception staff or anyone else around, no towel provided, no food available, no facilities to make hot drinks, window didn't close. When I managed to phone the number provided the guy was helpful, but I don't believe I was staying in the building I had booked on booking.com. Is the hostel closed? Why was there only one other guest staying, who didn't arrive until later in the evening? Why didn't I see any staff? Not quite what I had expected at all!

Owner could not do enough to be helpful. Boundless energy and enthusiasm Clearly the place is in the process of being developed and improved, hence not everything is complete yet, but I'm fine with that

More sockets and storage

Great location and super helpful staff. One staff member gave me really helpful advice on my cycle route plan for the next stage of my journey. Good to know that there are street food traders on site on Saturday evenings. There was a cafe on site.

I imagined a hostel would have more of a self catering kitchen such as a hob or microwave but there was only a kettle and toaster. Cold shower wasn’t welcome but I didn’t report this so there wasn’t an opportunity to resolve it.

fantastic venue, great staff friendly informative. Rob who runs it is one of the friendliest people . Takes an interest in everyone. Would highly recommend it. 👌

I loved my stay, the hostel is on a campsite and it has a great vibe. I got lucky and was the only one in the room other than one girl who I didn't see until about 10.30pm and she left at 8am. So I basically had the room to myself! At the moment it's quite old and rundown but they are in the middle of renovations so it will soon be quite modern on the inside. The bathroom was already half finished when I stayed (beginning of June 2025) and was looking very nice and modern. The staff were so lovely and welcoming and the site in general had a great vibe with lots of campers around. There is a little cafe/canteen and at night there was a food truck to order dinner from.

The bathroom door doesn't lock which I imagine would be annoying if all 6 beds were in use. The dorm room itself doesn't lock either. There was only 1x wall socket for the whole room which again, would be very annoying if all 6 beds were booked.
