Oak Tree Cottage, Countryside Retreat with River View

The property was well equipped and warm and comfy. Coming in to the wood burner on was so lovely!

The cottage and surroundings were stunning

It had been decorated for Christmas and had excellent table, chairs and sofas for our family to celebrate together.

Top bedroom and bathroom had sloping ceilings and so easy to bump your head! But this was not really a problem and part of the house.

Lovely walks, views,log fire ,comfy cottage and roomy

Too far to walk to the pub (by road). Creaky floor upper level. No big deal though

Location was lovely

Felt cleanliness could have been better. Cobwebs, dog hairs , dirty windows etc. have emailed hosts directly with more details. Some additional items would make the property better I.e. mirror in downstairs bedroom

The cottage was in a lovely location, was warm and well equipped. The owner seemed good when messaging.

The location and warmth of the cottage was overshadowed by the fact that the stairs were dangerous. Not long after arriving I placed my bags upstairs and on the way down slipped on the last carpeted step because it was a lot more shallow than the others. I fell and landed on my side. Thankfully I wasn’t hurt just a little achey from it a couple of days later. Before leaving I messaged the owners to advise of the issue and they replied to say that a sign would be put up at the bottom of the stairs to warn future guests. Really, I don’t think that this would prevent people forgetting as use of stairs is sort of automatic when the stairs are done to proper specifications. We were quite surprised that the host did not attempt to come and make sure that all was ok. For instance I could have been older and less fit and seriously Injured myself but been too shy to say. The living room floor was also very slippery in places, particularly to either side of the sofa or some reason.

The cottage is beautifully appointed with everything you could need. The peaceful location and views to the Severn estuary from the raised terrace are stunning, making it an ideal place to spend time relaxing.
