CAIt was the best location I've ever stayed in. The staff was pleasant.
It's called an ecolodge but I suspect that's only because they don't have to clean the room or provide more comforts. No hot water; not really a problem because it was so hot and there is no AC. There were a lot of gaps for bugs and critters to get into the room. Being that no one is there past 6:30pm, the rooms should be equipped with a mini fridge and drinking water should be available. We were not given instructions about what to do in the event of an emergency - no phone service available and didn't know if anyone was on-site in the evening.

We thought the breakfast was 7:30am even on week days as pretty sure reception said 7:30am had to leave at 8:30 so we couldn’t enjoy it. I guess more info online about schedules would of been better
ZAThe location is spectacular and the free breakfast excellent. We stayed in a sea-facing room at the top and it was great. Good surfing, no loud music, friendly staff. And all the day-trippers go back to SJDS in the afternoon, leaving the place all to yourself.
Since the only restaurant closes at sunset, it would be good to have access to a fridge and coffee maker when everything has shut down.
CAPlaya Hermosa is a lovely quiet beach with pleasant rustic accommodations . The staff is very friendly and the menu selection is good. I loved the sopa de pollo- chicken soup with veggies! Gorgeous sunsets. (Note it is busier on weekends. Since it is on a salty ocean - wear and tear on fixtures is to be expected) We REALLY like it here.
Since we had a car - the location on a massive private property 7 kms from town, wasn’t an issue for us to visit other beaches.

CAIf you like rustic, this was it. No hot running water, cockroach in bathroom when up to bathroom at night. Linen was clean. Rooms are a blend of inside outside with screens covering most, but not all. A/c was not necessary, but there was none. Ate at restaurant, food was very good! Coffee outside waiting at 6am, some nice touches. Great location, made up for what the room was not.
