Elvis and his wife Claudia are exceptional hosts who truly care about their guests. During our stay, they showed unparalleled kindness and generosity, even dedicating an entire day to help us explore my partner’s family roots. His local knowledge and genuine interest in ensuring we had an unforgettable experience made the trip truly special. When we faced unexpected challenges, Elvis was a steady and reassuring presence, going out of his way to support us and make us feel safe and cared for. From thoughtful recommendations (including helping us to organise a trip to the Kaieteur falls!) to seamless transportation and heartfelt hospitality, Elvis went far beyond what we could have ever expected. Staying with him isn’t just a place to rest—it’s an experience that will leave you with unforgettable memories and a deep appreciation for his kindness.

Be prepared for the fact it can be reasonably loud in the evenings, and that it is a shared bathroom. For what we paid, the value was amazing and we’d come back again in a heartbeat.

I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Smith’s Homestay. I was very pleased with the staff, they were able to provide me with information on questions when asked. They provided a warm environment and I love observed them interacting with other guests in a very friendly manner. When I visit Guyana again I will book with Smith’s Homestay. lovely people.

I have no negative comments to provide. I was treated quite well for the 14 days I stayed there.

Lovely clean, simple room with air con. Very comfortable mattress. Elvis was very friendly.

Host was very courteous.

Rooms are due for major refurbishment, doors, windows, locks need replacing. Bathroom requires a full makeover.

Breakfast was good. Arranged for my airport pick up/drop off with Elvis and he gave me contact info for the bus to Suriname. He also let me have an early check in that accommodated my early flight.

There is no soundproofing at all, just a random wall put in that is not fully closed off at the top so you can hear everything is going on around you. Loud TV going on at all times and just alot of noise which was very unpleasant. Water was also an issue, the bathroom sink barely had water and several times the toilet had flushing issues. The power also went out at night two of the four nights I was here and so the AC would turn off and very hot and uncomfortable to sleep and my phone couldnt charge either when that happened.

Elvis was very helpful during my stay. He helped me with getting around town and was around to help when needed.

The rooms have little sound proofing between them.

They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We had a very difficult schedule with very late arrivals, early transfers, and hanging out later than expected, waiting for pick ups. We felt so welcomed and they were so kind and patient and helpful. It was so nice to have breakfast there, and they were over the top welcoming to my 7 year old son. We felt like family. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. You can tell they put a lot of work into making it a good experience for their guests.
