Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge

Sidney is a lovely location in Cambridge with beautiful buildings and grounds. The staff were very friendly and helpful, explaining everything clearly. The room was clean and tidy with plenty of storage space, a fridge (supplied with canned water) and a fan. There was also tea and coffee provided.

The whole building we were in was very hot, including the room itself. Because of this we had to open the windows and unfortunately there was a lot of noise from outside from people shouting and singing, until past 3am.

The overall experience was enjoyable, with the opportunity to stay in a historic setting and explore the beautiful grounds. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts served were of good quality, which made the mornings enjoyable and added to the stay. I also found my single bed very comfortable and slept well. Towels were clean and the eco-friendly sustainable toiletries supplied were a nice touch.

I appreciate that these are student accommodations, but the standard could still be improved. The first room I was shown had heavily stained and sticky carpets, as well as marks on the walls, which made it feel unclean. I requested a change, and while the second room was an improvement, the carpets were still noticeably stained. Although I appreciated the unique atmosphere and the hospitality of the staff, the condition of the rooms did not fully meet expectations. With better maintenance and more thorough cleaning, this accommodation could offer a much higher standard to match its wonderful setting.

ロケーションが最高によいです。町の真ん中にあるにもかかわらず、夜は静か。受付の方は大変親切で、安心できました。朝食もしっかり取れるし、お庭も綺麗です。

バス・トイレ共有なのは承知の上で予約しましたので、施設のせいではないのですが、やはりあまり綺麗に使わない宿泊者もいるようでしたので、多少値段が高くてもバス・トイレ付きの部屋にした方がいいかもしれません。

In the heart of Cambridge university, close to everything

No air conditioning in summer

Great location. Beautiful buildings and grounds. Extremely helpful staff in the porters’ lodge, where I was able to leave my belongings for the day before heading home. A typical, small, but very comfortable student room - and a great breakfast.

My room was in a modern block and very warm (no air con and a very hot summer!). A small window onto the street below helped. There was quite a big step up into the small shower cubicle, which was a bit tricky to negotiate at my age, but I lived to tell the tale…!

The property was simply beautiful, everything I would expect from Cambridge College. The "hall" where we had breakfast; which was included, was stunning, and I could only describe as "Hogwarts" The gardens and flowers were beautiful. The staff in the porters lodge were very friendly and couldn't help us enough.
