"Not somewhere we would recommend for a girls trip away."

3.0

The property was clean.

We didn't like the area - in an estate and too far to walk to centre of Portrush. Despite having 4 bedroom the downstairs of the property is very small - no kitchen table and little room in the kitchen for more than one person. We felt the description was misleading in terms of hot tub not bring included in price. We felt there was a lot of house rules which left the organiser anxious and unable to fully relax. The house is described as a love island house, with a let's party sign on the wall - we felt we needed to be extra careful in terms of having our music on and being mindful of noise when in the house and arriving back. Again the feeling of uneasiness and not being able to enjoy our friends 40th birthday. The house was very cold on arrival. We did boost the heat but in the house rules it states that the oil level will be inspected after use - this left us feeling that we needed to turn it off again in case of being charged for use. Our deposit was not returned until 3 days later despite being stated it would be returned soon after check out. We had to telephone and message to request it was returned to bank account.

"Please don’t waste your money it’s dressed up dive."

1.0

We didn’t like very much about the property. It was in an awful location really sketchy estate with bordered up abandoned house 2-3 doors down. Just gave me the ick. The garden is water logged the home has a serious damp issue covered up with paint and poor ventilation in the bathroom. The hot tub is over chlorinated or bleached what ever it is to the point of bleach staining some swim suits as pictured.

Because of the damp issue we needed the windows open but it was freezing weather and a lovely note from the hosts telling us they charge extra to use the heating… we were freezing and in damp, not ideal. so many rules and don’t do this or… don’t do that or … just couldn’t relax or enjoy ourselves. Make sure to read the fine print for the additional charge for the hot tub as it’s NOT included in the price. Wouldn’t recommend at all. The garden is so overlooked and nosy neighbours to the side and back! So awkward and uncomfortable while in the hot tub.

"Ideal location and comfortable inside with modern furnishing, perfect for a trip to the antrim coast."

The property was very clean and in an ideal location to explore the Antrim Coast.

An extra bathroom would be beneficial.

Had a lovely stay. House was beautifully decorated, very clean and comfy. We all loved the hot tub. Amazing addition.

The garden wasnt very private but I know this could not be helped. Enjoyed our stay and thanks for having us.

"Overpriced for what it was"

5.0

Points to note: Whilst it is mentioned at the very end of the listing - please be aware that you will be charged an additional £50 if you want to use the Hot Tub. The property is being advertised with this being one of the main features and could made be a lot clearer prior to booking. In the main photo for the property, there is a picture of the hot tub with a bottle of fizz and 2 glasses. Stated in the rules at the property, you are not allowed to drink in the hot tub - this is misleading. If you happen to meet up with friends in Portrush, they are not allowed to come for a coffee as, at check in, the email from the owners stated "only guests booked will be permitted to enter the property". In the extensive list of rules, it states that dishes should be washed and put away at check out. I have no problem at all with. However, I would expect washing up liquid, dishcloths and tea towels to be available, rather than having to go out and buy these items to fulfil the request. In the rules, it states that there will be a charge for overfilled bins. Again, I have no issue with this however, there were no additional bin bags provided to allow us to dispose of excess rubbish. Given the amount of occupants and length of stay, 1 bin bag is not sufficient. There was no recycling bin at the property and we ended up having to bring our recycling items home. Bathroom had visible mould/water damage and toilet roll holder was in a drawer. If you are coming for a Love Island experience as the photos of the décor /lighting would lead you to believe, then you will be disappointed as the décor is tired and at least half of the lighting isn't working/missing. In response to the reply from the property: There was no blue bin at the property - we did however see 2 blue bins in the next door neighbour's garden. It was substantially more than £50 per night each for the stay - had we paid that, I would not have been so frustrated.

"The house and area did not live up to expectations."

3.0

The bed was comfortable, and the shower was the highlight of the place.

The estate looks rundown with a boarded up house a few doors away, a wall with a painted out slogan opposite and thick grass and weeds growing out of the kerbs where you park. The front yard has ancient dog poo laying on the front garden pebbles, it had obviously been there for some time. The view from the rear bedrooms is a disappointing some of the gardens opposite are wildly overgrown, weeds growing out of the roof gutters and a supermarket shopping trolley adoring one of the gardens. Unpacking is a problem as there are no cupboards or drawers in the bedrooms to put things away so we had to live out of suitcases for our stay. There is no toilet or shower upstairs. The kitchen is small with a wall mounted breakfast bar barely wide enough for a dinner plate. When using the oven for the first time we had to switch it off and clean the bottom of it as it was smoking a lot from the grease that had not been cleaned out. No tea towels or dish cloths are provided we had to buy some for our stay there. The living room has no table and chairs for dining, we had to eat off our laps during our stay there. On moving the settee we quickly put it back as revealed behind and underneath it was crisp, piles of dust and playing cards. Obviously no deep clean had happened prior to us moving in. On an information leaflet in the living room were rules on pets not disclosed in pre booking information. This ā€˜pet friendly property’ discloses these rules to you when you enter the house. ā€˜Do not allow any pets upstairs or in the bedrooms. Do not allow any pet on the furniture.’ Bearing in mind the small size of the place, this is extremely restrictive to your pet. All beaches in Portrush are off limits to dogs from June-September. The nearest dog friendly beach is Portstewart Strand which is a 10 min drive. There is a Ā£50.00 spa tax charge this is paid regardless of whether you are paying the Ā£50.00 for the use of the hot tub. It was never explained to us what this was for.
