Thistle City Inn

Clean and a great location.

Having to meet someone at a specific time was not convenient because we had to navigate parking and the festival crowds (I had assumed the place was an actual Inn… where you just show up when you get there); however, the owner made it very easy and a person was in fact there to let is in despite being late.

Super convenient location, and affordable price, nice amenities is like slippers, fan in the room, and earplugs, and toiletries and hairdryer also provided. Super bare bones, with just a room big enough for a twin bed and an en suite bath, but that was truly all that was necessary.

Temperature control was only available with a plug-in fan, but it actually was quite effective.

The property was super clean and smelt lovely. It felt brand new, facilities, bedding, everything. The kitchen was fabulous and had all you need including some lovely touches, easy to keep clean, paper towels etc and the ‘extra bathroom’ was most appreciated as I was in a very small room with toilet and shower combined so this allowed me a pleasant bathroom experience without steaming up the small room. The highlight was the staff and their incredible kindness to me, as they assisted me with my luggage up the stairs with my mobility issues, even at 6am on a Sunday!!

It was confusing on arrival, as I was expecting an ‘Inn’ but it is an apartment. This would be helpful to know beforehand. This was also due to me not having data on my phone to receive calls and they did try! Once I learnt I could use WhatsApp this was resolved so it would be helpful to have an advertised alternative contact for travelers who need to use wifi only. It would also be great if there was a frying pan as they had everything else! … Finally, I was there during the Fringe (great location!) but I discovered my window was directly above a venue that was open til 3am and very loud trucks and constant noise. I had opted to stay here instead of the Grassmarket as I thought it would be a little quieter. The ear plugs were most appreciated!!

I can cook breakfast myself, cause there is a supermarket right across the street. Shopping is very easy

There are often parties in the neighborhood that go until 3 AM, which can get pretty noisy.

Les fenêtres sont rustiques même fermées on entend le bruit de la rue et le pub juste au dessous jusqu’à au moins 3 ou 4h du matin Le bruit des voitures comme si elles passaient dans la chambre Bouchons d’oreilles fournis Appartement très bien situé pour visite de la ville
