Firdous and his lovely family made my experience in Srinagar, Kashmir memorable. I have been travelling for one year now and Firdous has been hands down the best host I have had. He really makes you feel at home, will make sure that you have everything you need and will give you the best recommendations for your stay in Kashmir. The house boat is really nice and the rooms are lovely. There is a nice area/balcony to hang out and admire the scenic view. The food is really tasty and authentic. I would definitely recommend Veena Palace it was amazing!

Everything was perfect!

Mr. Firdous's houseboat was far enough from the street so the only sound you hear is the tranquility of Dal Lake. Every morning, you would wake up to a peaceful view of the lake, plus a well-cooked breakfast (try the egg pizza!) The rooms are wonderful, authentic, and full of patterns (a big YES for maximalist) Mr Firdous knows EVERYONE you need, so he is ready to go the extra mile to accommodate your needs. If he cannot help you with that, he will get you the rightest guy for you. As someone who had stayed 2 weeks before staying Veena Palace, I can say finding dinner is challenging in Srinagar, especially if you live on a houseboat. Worry not because his wife is a wonderful cook who performs art with skill and heart. I tried some dishes from the elaborate Kashmiri wazwan, and I cannot recommend enough the crispy rib and the fish curry. The meatball was mashed to perfection; chewy and juicy. I personally learnt so much about heart-to-heart connection, which is something considerable for solo travellers in India, thanks to Mr. Firdous. My words cannot describe enough for my wonderful stay with Mr. Firdous on his houseboat.

I could not stay for 3 months.

Best place ever, so calm and chilled in the middle of a crowded city. It's very authentic, and it's guaranteed to have an original lake and boat-house experience. I initially booked there for 2 nights and stayed for 8 days. I simply felt very good being there. Firdous - the owner - is just a piece of sugar. He and his family made me feel very welcomed like I'm at home. The internet quality is great (which is a surprise regarding the location) Hot water and good fans. I'll definitely come back again one day, if not for the beauty of kashmir, just for a visit to the boat house and my new uncle Firdous.

I had a good sleep after the long journey, although i had to use my own sleeping bag because the blankets were suspicious and no bed sheeds.

For the price i was charged i'd expect far better conditions, at least bed sheeds, clean towels, some soap and a room lock. I did not feel comfortable with the staff, especially that at booking it was not clearly said i need to arrange a boat pick up to the place. Next time i will not stay there - city offers decent places for 1/3 of this price.

Hospitality and the budget accommodation

Firdouse Bhai, the owner, is awesome! He helped us out with everything we needed during our trip. His family stays nearby and is always ready to help out the guests and make them feel at home.
