Theofania's Marble House Meteora

Excellent location in the centre of Kastraki. Modern and comfortable apartment.

The only negative is there’s no real outlook.

A truly wonderful apartment stay is defined not by the comfort of the accomodation, but by the care and graciousness of the host. Our stay here will always be memorable because we ran into a spot of trouble and that is when Katerina stepped up and showed she is a truly 5-star host. First, she noticed our flat tyre before we did. Then on a National Holiday when everything in Greece seemed to be closed, she phoned a couple of tire shops for us, found us a contact and took on the role of a translator for us. Without her help, our travel schedule would have been derailed. I scraped my knee while changing a tyre and found a full service first aid kit in the apartment with band aids of all sizes and even betadine and saline solution.  As for the actual apartment, she has thought of everything, there is nothing missing to ensure an absolutely perfect stay. We had warm and cosy beds and blankets, a fully equipped kitchen (we cooked a full meal), even a microwave which is somehow missing in most Greece apartments. There was cooking oil and seasonings and a bowl of cherry tomatoes left for us. We did a load of laundry with the washing machine and were provided detergent and a clothes rack. The bathroom is large and modern. The reserved parking is right outside the door, if it were any closer, it would be in the living room. It is set in a calm and quiet corner of Kastraki, just steps from the main square, a mini market and Tavernas. The hiking trail M9 begins close to it, near the Museum. We would definitely stay here again.

Large house, clean, comfortable, good accessories.

Wow, where do I start? Kastraki was an excellent choice as opposed to Kalabaka because it's a small village and not a town. Kalabaka is a few minutes drive so everything was accessible++, but it was great to be in a quiet place. Theofania's house is locate just above the "main square" and the front of the building is the allocated parking spot. Couldn't be closer to the door unless we parked inside the apartment. The key was waiting for us in a lockbox next to the door (it's also where we left it) and the Wi-Fi was solid Next - the apartment was extremely comfortable for us with two kids. It was the first time they had their own room during the trip, and that was nice. The living room was comfortable, the kitchen was fully equipped. The shower is new and very comfortable and having a washing machine available is always a nice touch for those in need. it really felt like home. As such and not as a hotel, you have to get your own food, but that is extremely simple with a small grocery store a spitting distance from the door, next to the square. What's around - everything: 1. The mini-market + a couple of taverns we didn't try are both 50 meters away 2. A small playground in the square for the kids that need to run around 3. Just next door is a new Coffee/Bar called Cafe Mikio - excellent coffee and light food and snacks. The coolest place around for sure 4. For those interested in Meteora's Geology - The main building next to the square is a nice museum, that tell the story of the rock formations - recommended if you can spare the time 5. Two minutes walking and you reach another street with additional hotels, tavernas and art studios ...all that and I didn't say a word about Kalabaka. Supermarket, stores, restaurants...even a proper Pizza place that my kids were craving (look for Santa Lucia Pizza).

It's difficult to find things in this place that we didn't like, but if I really need to dig deep then I'd say the beds were not the most comfortable we slept on but we all slept well. Mattresses were on the hard/springy side, so don't expect the Hilton beds

Very spacious and comfortable house, well equipped with everything

Location is perfect for visitig Meteora Monasteries. Also nice taverns around to try. The rooms were exactly what we needed and expected from all point of views. Good price/quality ratio.

Beautiful, spacious and clean accomodation in a great location. We loved the village and nearby tavernas and bakery. The house was very well equipped.

We couldn’t find it on our gps. Perhaps sending a location pin with gps coordinates or photos would help quests to find the house.

Everything was great. The beautiful house with the great views. The lansdscape was marvelous. I would like to rate this stay for 20 points if it would be possible.

Top location close to a central place with mini market and small restaurant, but also directly at some hikes towards the monasteries, which we took advantage of. Appartment ist really spacious, super clean and orderly

One can argue that the style of the furniture and interior is a bit outdated, but perfectly functioning.
