Blue Ocean Tree House Hiriketiya

It is a quiet, secluded spot that might suit couples. It is near to Blue Beach. The hosts were friendly.

I don't normally leave reviews but felt I should provide a balance of opinion given the large number of positive reviews. The room was not ready on arrival after 3pm, that said I did book day of arrival. Although clean, there were ants all through the bed by the evening, which made sleeping difficult. It is a long way from restaurants and the main towns, which although could be quaint for a couple wanting a secluded spot, was frustrating as a solo traveller particularly because the availablity of tuk tuks in the area is zero, and you must rely on the hosts to arrange. The language barrier was substantial, and it made organising this (or any logistics/requests in general) difficult. I gave up and walked to town a couple of times, which was fine during the day, but at night it is very dark and not well marked. It was also oddly difficult to get into the property on arrival because of their huge gates, which when locked from the inside cannot be opened unless you yell out to them. The food was fine, but I would recommend eating at local restaurants nearer to town which are much better. I ended up moving to another guesthouse the following day which made my stay in Hiriketiya drastically better. It was significantly nicer and half the price. It genuinely could be good if you wanted this seclusion, and the hosts I feel did try to make the stay enjoyable. TLDR: Overpriced compared to other places for what it is; isolating not in a good way if you are a solo traveller or want proximity to literally anything.

Location was great and the area felt quiet and safe, great access to beaches and short Tuk Tuk from Hiriketiya. The hosts were friendly and quick to respond to any questions. The cabin is equipped with kitchenware which we found rare in our trip so this was a nice addition. The breakfasts were decent standard, not the best we had in our trip but not the worst.

Das Srilankische Frühstück war lecker, die Unterkunft klein aber schön, es war ruhig und in der Natur. So wie ich es liebe. Der Vater und die Mutter sind sehr nette Leute. Der Sohn, der managt muss noch ein bischen zuverlässiger werden. Bei der Anreise war ich sehr verunsichert, ob ich richtig bin, Einheimische mussten mir helfen, hat etwas gedauert, weil kein Namensschild.

Bei der Zahlung vorort, musste ich feststellen, dass mir zu dem Endbetrag von Booking.com, noch 15% extra berechnet worden sind. Das finde ich absolut nicht in Ordnung und das macht wohl jeder Host gerade so wie er will. Bei den anderen Hosts in Sri Lanka sind solche ExtraKosten nicht angefallen, und auch in anderen Ländern hab ich das noch nicht erlebt. Da ich diesen nicht unerheblichen Mehrpreis aber nicht von Anfang an sehen kann, wenn ich buche, also auch nicht entscheiden kann, will ich diese Unterkunft dann überhaupt buchen, fühle ich mich über den Tisch gezogen. Auch war der junge Mann nicht gerade zuverlässig, die Gasflasche war nicht angeschlossen, folglich konnte ich mir keinen Tee, Kaffee kochen, ich habe ihn benachrichtig, er hat sich aber erst gegen 9 Uhr morgens gemeldet, hätte mir halt gerne schon Stunden vorher einen Tee gemacht als das Frühstück kam.

Ein gemütliches Cottage an wunderschöner Lage. Man sieht vom Frühstückstisch direkt auf das Meer und ist mitten in Natur zwischen Palmen und Tieren. Die Gastgeber sind sehr herzlich und bieten wunderbares Frühstück!

Wenn du etwas in Fussdistanz zum Hiriketyia Beach suchst, dann ist das Cottage nicht das Richtige. Dennoch lohnt es sich, da die Lage wunderschön und man mit dem Tuktuk schnell im Dörfchen ist.

El sitio es precioso y la familia que lo gestiona son un encanto. El desayuno, de comida local, era muy abundante. La cabaña tiene cocina y frigorífico. Buena ubicación, a 5 minutos en tuk tuk de playa hiriketiya.

Great place, just a few meters from the beach. Several other beaches are also within walking distance. The area is calm and not in the middle of tourist crowds, which makes it easy to relax. The accommodation is decorated with a lot of care, and we felt very comfortable. The host was friendly and very thoughtful. We felt truly looked after. Breakfast was also really good. On our first day we were sick, and they even adjusted the breakfast to be easier on the stomach.

Perfect stay in nature. The house is well equipped, so private and in a beautiful setting. The location is just a short walk from a local beach, so quiet and calm. Podii was very welcoming and brought us dinner and breakfast, thanks for a great stay!
